D3.5 is an update! It should perform as good or even better than its previous counterpart. As for your other question, 3500kv is what Trinity rates the motor at.

KV ratings are the most useless piece of info out there. There is no standard way to measure. In my 1/12TH scale the 3.5 is definitely faster than the 3.0. But each motor is a little different and you need to sort out your own timing and gearing. Anything you read here is just to get you in the ballpark. Find a motor you like and dial it in.

thats what its suppose to be as advertised on the trinity website. and if you get the other rotor its suppose to bump the 17.5 from 3500kv to 3800kv.

now that you mention this, might test it on my friends speed passion dyno to confirm the ratings

Just seems that guys are using Novak and Turnigy 17.5's rated at 2200kv area and gearing at FDR 3.5-4.0 by that logic if I get a 3500kv Trinity and gear at FDR 3.5-4.0 I should be almost twice as fast.

...which I doubt.

one trend ive noticed is that people running say a reedy or other motors with lower Kv specs not trinity gearing in the 2-3 range, and myself having ran from 3-4. and getting both top and bottom end. Mind you this is in F1

The motor should come set on the 0° timing mark, but remember at that setting there is 30° of timing built in already. So if you advance the endbell to 20° your motor will be at 50° total timing.

Nice to know this information. I keep hearing about the endbell in the 3.5 needing some sort of modification?? Is this true??

Does the D3 at the 0° timing mark have any built in timing??

When they first came out, they were modifying the end bell to get more timing not realizing that it was already capable of 50*. 30* built in and going up to 20 and stopping there. After they modified and went to 70-80* and smoked a few motors, they suddenly found out what they did was cause more harm! There's a reason why they stop at 25* on the end bell!!!

Don't know about the D3. Never had one.

...and the Revtechs too. However, the Revtech Endbell was slotted to give 5-10 deg more timing than the D3's.
