Well i tested a second 17.5 today and had the same problem as the first.
Every once in awhile when accelerating out of turn the car stutters. If I stop after tapping a corner the won't start, it acts just like the sensor board went bad. Wait a second and it's back to normal, for a short while.
I'm fairly convinced it's the Tekin\Motor combo that's not working. We have others running this motor successfully with different ESC's. I have a 13.5 in my WGT with a Hobbywing 1S and it works fine.
There's something about the sensor signal from the motor my Tekin does not like. There's another racer at our track with a Tekin that has had issues as well, just not as often.
It's too bad i really wanted to run this motor at IIC.

I bought 2 new D3.5's from EA, 1 17.5 for 12th scale, 1 13.5 for WGT for IIC. I had 2 older Tekins, 1 RS and 1 RS Pro. Neither new motor would work on either speedo. My old D2 would work fine. Even after have EA and Dieter looked at these, still nothing. They acted like the sensor boards were bad. I missed all of the first day of practice. Only after Randy Pike arrived on Wed were we able to diagnose the problem. The D3.5's require 5 volts to the sensors to work. The older motors only require 3.5 volts. Neither of my speedos were outputting the needed 5 volts. Randy traded out these 2 speedos for me and problemed solved.

Just blew my D3 last night, so I'm looking for a replacement.
I run Boosted 17.5 TC, both out door asphalt and indoor carpet with a speed passion prostock 2.1. I loved my D3, so I'm wondering how the d3.5 compares for boosted stock.
And even if its good for boost, what version do I want? With the standard D3.5, then the Maxilla, then there's express motorsports Zapper and Ripper, then EA motorsports standard and Magzilla... how do I choose?

I spoke with Randy at IIC, learned the voltage supply circuit used for the sensor board is not supplying the proper voltage due to it being damaged during use. Tekin's nominally output 6v to the sensor board. If damaged this voltage will be lower and the D3.5 motors seem to be sensitive to voltage level. Randy measured the voltage on my Tekin that was having issues to find it was only 3v. Put in a new ESC that measured 6v and I've never had the problem again.

I could use some gearing/timing suggestions for a blinky 21.5 on a 100x36 carpet track.

Can anyone share the "sweet spot" for the 3.5 in 13.5 1/12 all motor? I havent had to much time to test with the motor but as far as I can tell it seems to like less gear than the reedy's that the rest of the guys run at my local track. Any input on this?

I am about to get a D3.5 17.5 to run boosted with my Tekin...
