I have just finished my mild Sprint 2 Flux mod with an upgraded Castle SV3 Sidewinder 5700kV system using a 3300mah, 3s 80C Nanotech Lipo. I'm starting with a 87t Spur and a 20t Pinion to see how it works.

Spur Gear is removed as I was trying to figure out how to mount the extra idler pulley for larger Lipo packs. I have cut away the area of the upper tray to allow the long belt clearance as seen somewhere in this thread.

BEAUTIFUL!!

In other words, I have a sprint 2 flux, and I want to start some touring 1/10 newbie racing... what class should i try to enter? I'm new to racing, but have been bashing for 4 years... I'm 15 so I'm looking for a budget setup series... I don't have resources to buy a Super pro level CF chassis... All help is appreciated!

I just purchased the brushless SV3 with 4600kv motor brand new ( do I need to have soldiering skills to solder the newly brushless combo kit ?) also do I need to buy any connectors to solder it in ?) , What do you guys recommend for a lipo battery size ? (I already pre mod for lipo set-up.)

Will the Duratrax Lipo 3s 5000mah fit ?

3s 5000mah will never fit, my turnigy 2s 4000mah fits very nice with room to spare.

I want some new shocks and spring for my Sprint, preferable in the same matching orange color where can I find some?

Thanks! Sorry I don't have any racing recommendations as I just bash nowadays

I'm currently using a 3300 mah 3's Nanotech that fits with no modifications. Its dimensions are 146x43x20mm 20mm high is the critical dimension as I have 25mm packs that will not fit.

I would like to fit slightly bigger packs and I think 23mm will be max.

I picked a set of shocks up from GPM racing. They are very nice and are orange (you can order them any color you want)

Like this

You will need to get some different springs, I have found that the stock ones are a little soft. I am going to try the HPI stock ones in them.

Here is a pic of my chassis with all alloy upgrades

I also run this in my local SSF comp. I am low budget myself and have just ordered some new bit for it via Hobby King, (Turnigy Trackstar 10.5T motor, 60a ESC, and some clamp on hex's to replace the plastic standard ones and give my Foam tyres the propper clearance they need without having to use washers to space them out 4mm from and 6mm rears. Also ordered some new wheel lock nuts.)
Enjoy

Thanks, ordered a set and received today, together with alloy A-arms and a savox 1258TG. Started out really happy until I started driving. The cars turns WAY faster to one side, yet I get the EXACT same throw plus I see my wheel vibrate while cornering, there is little play between the a-arm and wheelhub, is this ok?

Second, and probably the worst problem, my receivers resets itself when I let go of the steeringwheel, so when it centers fast. Everything is stock, nearly new lipo's etc...

Do you have a capacitors connected to the receiver ?

Post #22 Will help you when you upgraded to that savox 1258TG

I installed the Associated LRP BEC Stabilizing Capacitor part #LRP80135 and a LiPo = no problems. $10 = cheap insurance.

Thumbs up I'm Back - I think...

I apologize to all for the long hiatus:

Long story short =
Old PC gave up the ghost -
My car gave up the ghost -
Three of the closest people in my life have passed away -
My health went south for a bit -
My sig-other decided that she would move on -

However:
In the words of Monty Python, "I'm feeling much better now."

I'll catch up on my reading here and see what I've missed...

Again, I'm sorry for the the long hiatus -

Many thanks to all the posters and contributors to this thread!

Welcome to all the new S2 owners!

Do any of the 12mm work, is there one better than the others?
I run the aluminum 12mm hex nuts from the HPI BLITZ -
Part number - HPI103362

However, I found what appears to be better ones -
Machined instead of cast -
But I haven't tried them yet =

Keep in mind that the hexes molded into the HPI wheels are some what off center and have slop =
Use the painter's tape shimming mod to remedy the issue =

When I give it some throttle, as soon as I steer left or right I notice the belt slaps up and down and makes a clicking/grinding sound. If I give it very little throttle, the power seems to drop off as soon as I steer. This happens on the ground under load and if it's on a stand. During a drift, as steer, I can also hear the power "surging". The vibe are so bad the body rattles!

This is killing me. There appears to be no issues with the dog bones or differential. I am stumped - Why ONLY when I turn the wheel does this happen? I see no wear or damage, and I don't run it outside and I haven't crashed it.

I have adjusted the front belt tensioner all the was and it still happens, but less than when its fully loosened.

Could the belt just be stretched? It looks perfectly fine.

Please help me figure this out. I've been into RC cars for 20+ years, but this is my first belted car.

In addition to nubie-wans advice I would add do the front belt lift mod =

And the motor mount mod / just the left mount if you're not going to add a rear tensioner =
Post #1 at the bottom of the page =
HPI Sprint 2 Mods - Making a silk purse from a sow's ear.

You'll want to elongate/lengthen the slot for the front tensioner to allow for more adjustment of the belt

Belt tension info is here =

I would also advise doing the diff shim mod =
Post #159 =
HPI Sprint 2 Mods - Making a silk purse from a sow's ear.

The vibration could be caused by any number or combination of things:
Front diff sliding sideways
Diff cups flopping around in the diff housing
Dog bones binding during a tight turn under load
Steering knuckles/C Blocks/control arm slop

I recommend changing to the KOREAN KEVALR BELTS sold by Tough Racing =
Much better quality, less stretch =

REAR BELT = http://www.toughracing.com/zc126d/in...oducts_id=2036

FRONT BELT = http://www.toughracing.com/zc126d/in...oducts_id=2037

Tough Racing also sells those belts on eBay -

what you guys will recommend. thanks

This web page may help you out =
http://www.gearchart.com/index.cfm?f...n=chart.create

NOTE: The internal gearing ratio (aka TRANSMISSION GEAR RATIO) for the HPI Sprint 2 is 2.13

Easy to figure =
32 diff teeth divided by 15 pulley teeth = 2.13

Use a temperature gun after each run =
You don't want the motor over heating -

I'm not a speed fan, so maybe some others might chime in...

Good luck / Let us know how it works out!
