Yeah, that's how he started and pretty much when I started in the early 80's, stick radio was a norm. His radio is probably one of the most expensive radio out there right now. Cost more than an M8.
I'm sure you've heard the story about him driving the car with his feet.

I actually tried it because that is how I started in the hobby back in the day. (Radio Shack!!)
Tell you the truth, its super smooth control. I found myself more calm and in control of my car. Especially during subtle moves and turns.
I think its because I am so used to game controls which is similiar in holding style of a two stick.
To tell you the truth, if it wasn't for all the "Noob" looks I would get (even though I'm not) I would probably switch myself.

ive thought quite a bit on changing to the older stick style. I seem to struggle a little with the Pistol style control, but it could be that im just starting to race. Theres a guy that races at our club with one, and i think if he had a more durable car he would be one of the top drivers. Its all about what youre comfortable with.
I saw a movie of Masami doing some drifting with his feet, pretty awesome stuff. I thought playing ps2 with the controller backwards was good

The best part of his Drift by Foot demo that he did was the fact that he was almost as good with his feet drifting as with his hands, while others were out there with pistol grip radios and could barely make it around a corner, let alone a whole lap. I had always heard stories of him driving with his feet, but to see it in person....priceless.
Other top drivers who use stick radios:
David Spashett
Craig Dresher
Andy Moore
and I could be wrong but I think Teemu does as well.

yea, how dare you, coming on here and making a post like that, even if you didn't mean any harm and are just making a innocent observation that many of us in the states have thought about.

In the states you see alot of Pistols but in the Uk,Japan and China it's almost all Stick Radio's.
Maybe it's just your so Narrow in your thinking you just didnt have a clue.Maybe?

Lack of knowledge in some just kill me.
