Tamiya F104 Version 2

How long do we usually wait for it to be out(after the leak)?:ha:

J-PaP 05-02-2012 04:58 AM

End of June it is meant to be out.

Oh I see, no wonder everybody is selling their 103's and 104's

Thanks

F103s still gonna wipe the floor with it :)
Harsh reality of it is the 200mm is still the chassis to have if it's race legal.
Won't see me selling my 103.
Still genuinely excited about this car though!

A 103 front end and the proper tires on this car might surprise you.

I built a regular 104 with wide front end parts and it was ridiculously fast.

Yeah my Exotek F104W was a great car much more consistent over a race and easier to drive than the F103.. But the F103 always had that "hot lap" in the bag that the F104W didn't.

Jim.

How I wish it will be redesigned to use a hard case lipo

[RC10TC] 05-08-2012 11:55 AM

that picture looks pretty much like the exotek conversion....good on foams, sucky on rubber
when is tamiya gonna bring foams back cause the f104w is pretty damn good on foams

Tamiya, never took the foams away
In fact, the F-104WGP is made specifically to run foam tires

Racers just choose to run what's most popular in their region

If you look close there are a few key differences in the V2 vs: the Exotec design
What's really cool is that you won't have to hack the body to fit, like the Exotec, for those that are into the scale appearance
I'm sure it will work great on rubber tires

Pretty much everyone in the UK runs Foam and Wide cars, as does virtually everyone in the Far East.

Narrow Cars with Rubber is very much a USA thing at the moment, but it's a cool class either way!

The Exotek EXO104 was designed to run foams on carpet, the newer Exotek F1R is designed for rubber on both surfaces and is apparently much better suited to rubber racing.

Same here in Holland:nod:
Wide cars and foam.
Only the ETS is running the narrow chassis and rubber.
F103 is indeed a fast car but the F104W is easier to drive due to it's longer wheelbase.
Converted my F104Pro to W spec last year and have run it this year in the Dutch Tamiya Challenge.
First race was a prey for the F104W cars with just 3 F103 completing the top 10 in the finales.
If you get the F103 right, it still a car that can run up front but not on rubber and on the bigger tracks as we have here.

regards Roy

wide front with rubber

Has anyone ran wide front with rubber tires? what is the feedback?

[RC10TC] 05-09-2012 02:02 PM

So pre mount foams are still available?

Too bad f1 is dead over here at Norcal. People can't decide on rubber or foam?
