Did you already have the 3 motor posts shorted together, but not connected to the motor?

Ok,
While the unit is off.
I held the mode button down.
Then turned the esc on, It went into some mode and the rear wheels were spinning slow, then what looks to be full speed, the back to slow.

So I went back and started over again.
But still same old
Light move from one side to the other full. But the motor does not turn.

Last time it was together and connected to the Motor. ( while replaced)

This time it was not connected to the motor when I connected the battery lead's. then selected the 4 Leds for Forward and Break mode.

Then into calibration.
But before calibration, The cap was rather hot.

It sounds blown at this point. We just need to figure out what blew it up so we do not do it again. Some of the info still does not make sense from the start because it should not have shown 1,2 6,7 at the start if the motor was not connected. Somehow we tricked the unit... or it was bad to begin with.

Turning the unit on with either button pushed puts you in pit tune mode. Not really needed anymore with 2.4Ghz radios, but with a crystal radio it turns off the motor drice to allow you to turn on the unit without the radio on. Again not a good sign that the motor is moving in pittune mode and indicates something is shorted in the controller.

I am sorry to say it probably has to be replaced.

The brushed fwd only wiring is the only place we can really trick the controller if the motor is not connected. If you were to do a calibration while in BL mode with the motor posts shorted together, with or without the motor, it would likely cause damage. The unit should not allow this, but like I said this is the one condition it can be tricked into it. It really sounds like it was in BL mode during that first radio calibration when the cap blew. Maybe when you selected mode 4 it did not accept it for some reason.

I know the Motor was not connected at the start of the process.
I'm 100% sure it was connected correctly. Reason for Pictures taken.

Email [email protected] and tell them you have been talking to me. The information we have really points to that first calibration when the cap blew causing the damage. We will make it right and send you a new unit.

If you have it all wired up including the motor connected we should not be able to trick the unit into doing anything wrong. It really should be as easy as pick mode 4 and rock and roll....

What does holding the mode button down while the esc is being turned on do?
