Nerf bars are normally to protect the undercarriage as you go over stuff...

A lot of people will purchase the protector..I don't see just how necessary it is...maybe I'll change my tune...but i'm not worried aboutthe mechanical layout of this car in theleast...

I can't wait to get it out on the track

Default Hop-Ups

Aluminum Shock Bodies,

Spring Steel axles,

Front sway-bar (depending on carpet or asphalt)

Extra rear shock tower (miraculously I have broken the rear shock tower...so I stack two on top of eachother)

Spool (Although moding the front diff that comes with the car, works fine)

Whats the diff between the spring steel axles, and the stock ones. Also what is the part number for the aluminum shock bodies and will the ones off the fk04 fit?

one is spring steel, stock aluminum. so it bends easier and bends out. and the wheel chatter is supposedly from the unroundness of bent alumiunm ones

Spring Steel Axles - #305315

Aluminum Shock Bodies - #308320

Pretty much what greencactus said, if you are running on a track that is very solid, and you tap a wall then the steering knuckles will "stretch" (in amount of steering), and turn enough to where the universal hits the aluminum axle and bends it. Although, I have never had wheel chatter in my xrays.

actually the aluminum ones are thicker out on the end and the rub the dog bone when you turn it hard causing the chatter....the spring steel is stronger so they can make it thinner and it has more clearence

I 've built the 05 and the only thing that really bothers me is the shock quality. Is there anything that you people would recommend to replace them. I 've heard that Tamiya's would do, but I want to know which ones and also how they will fit. Is there anything I have to do to make them fit?
Any other options or opinions whatsoever would be very much appreciated.

Thanx guys in advance.

The Stock Xray shocks work great? what's the problem with them?

You DO have to be careful with the fine threads on the cap.youcan easily cross thread it if you're not careful

Some people have a hard time building them, and not having air bubbles inside when they are done, OR they do not like the plastic bodies and the threads sometimes strip...why I get the aluminum shock bodies.
