I'm looking at possibly getting an onroad touring car, but which one would be best? Not new to rc, but new to onroad. I currently race 4x4 shortcourse trucks. Also, does anyone race onroad cars near Springfield, MO? Thanks
There are about a million threads like this...doesn't anyone use search anymore ? Anyway...
Imo....there is no best...TC6/6.1 are great cars with inexpensive replacement parts, great product support from associated, TOP has a great product in the photon, and soon to be released ex should prove to be at least as good.TOP parts are also fairly inexpensive, Xray and serpent both make awesome products, replacement parts are not cheap. Sakura i hear is cheap to own ,cheap to maintain with fairly good performance. Some people like one brand but cannot drive another. it is all up to the driver and what you like. Stick with a major brand and you can always sell it if you don't like it. Check with your local track and see what the other drivers are racing with, because in the long run that is where most of your support will come from. Check with your hobby shop and see what they are stocking parts for. Nothing worse that buying a kit and you can't find parts for it locally. The best car is the one you enjoy driving the most.Different strokes for different folks...
yep, you should get a car that fits a class being raced locally and is supported by your LHS. Otherwise for just parking lot fun my GTP2e is a real blast and the kit is inexpensive although the power system is not inexpensive. At almost 75mph so far its worth it though.
I'm really wanting to stay 1/10th scale thanks. I've been looking at the TC6.1 and the Xray T3. I don't know exactly anywhere locally to race, but I do know they race in Kansas City. So most of my driving is going to be in parking lots probably, unless like a said previously, someone knows where to race close to Joplin or Springfield, MO. Thanks
Ok, i called out there (417-887-1517) and talked to Brian. He informed me that the guy who owned the on road track had his house wiped out by the tornado last year. He has no desire at this point to restart the track. But, Brian also informed me that maybe at the end of April they would set up a track in the parking lot of their store. Really nice guy, you should call him. It also sounds like the major manufacturers they carry at this location are Traxxas,Hpi, Associated and Losi.
Also....you could make the drive to Indianapolis and race with the fastest guys on the planet. Should only be what , 7 hour drive for you ?

Yeah I'm down for traveling to big races, I just want to get my feet wet in it and see if I will like it for the long haul. I've been racing off road for about three months and I don't know if it is my cup of tea, That is why I want to give onroad a try. Thanks for the help.
this club spec edition just came out recently and its still a platform used by many racers out there and lots of upgrades and parts to be found as well this would be perfect for you unless you really wanted to spend the extra money on aluminum and graphite for parking lot racing most of the time (which is totally up to you)
Its not crap and a perfect car to start with. Schumacher makes really good stuff.

Any parking lot racing/driving at all, the graphite/carbon and FRP chassis cars prob aren't a good idea unless the surface is like glass. Plastic tub chassis cars work pretty well and are pretty durable, i.e. hot bodies cyclone S or an associated TC4.
