well it did work out for Novak....having the only legal motor for VTA for years had to have some benefit. I know that VTA and the closing of Novak have nothing to do with each other.

I also think the motor rules right now are good for the class....mind you I was totally against it at 1st, as well as the speed control change too....but now I can see the advantage of multiple legal motors making for some good racing. Ive been to several tracks and tested a lot of different motors and I think the only advantage is brand loyalty...pick your poison and race type deal.

and yes premounts would get my extra dollar everytime...so yes PF...premounts

Novak did good by the VTA racers. In fact Bob Novak did good by the entire hobby. So much so he was inducted into the AMA Hall of Fame.

I miss Novak.

Novak was great, they really just needed a marketing person to change their image.

Hope your not referring to your VTA indoor scene being dead - man I got flamed all over this thread for suggesting such a thing. I was talking with one of the official from N Control a few weeks ago and was told that they don't plan on having VTA class at the upcoming outdoor ROAR Nationals in Austin Tx. So anyone who wants to run VTA, should make sure their ROAR rep knows about it to be sure there is a VTA class - then be sure to show up! Personally I haven't run VTA since the ROAR regionals last year. 25.5TC has become so popular in TX that VTA may never come back. But like you I have all the stuff needed to convert my XRAY 25.5TC back into a VTA car if there is interest again.

25.5TC is being ran instead of USVTA at the ROAR region 3 race here in South Carolina in September. I know region 3 may be large, but I don't know of any tracks in the Carolinas, Georgia, or Tennessee that run 25.5TC.

If ROAR was really about the racers, you'd think they would run a class that was already in place for most drivers instead of creating a class that doesn't really exist in the region.

They are running a 25.5 TC class at the Nats this year too. I've heard rumors that the new stock TC class for ROAR is going to be 25.5 with a track option of a 21.5 motor. In Austin the lap times for the 25.5 TC cars are in between the USGT and 17.5 cars - not bad for a 25.5 motor! Personally I like anything with a 25.5 motor because of the IR spec on that motor.

BTW after my post yesterday, I took my favorite "way too heavy" Camaro body and put it on my new (to me) XRAY T4-16 and found I had to add 50 grams to make VTA weight - just have to love these new light weight chassis. Last year with the same component on my TCXX chassis I had to run the PF Javelin body get down to the weight limit.

ROAR takes most of its input from the host track. So if the host track says there's more interest in 25.5 than VTA, then that's what they're gonna run.

If you wanna run VTA, then you have to promote VTA.
