I can only offer up my own personal experiences, but yes, it's usually possible to race around the track holding WOT the entire time. However, it just scrubs the tires, generates excess heat/stress in the driveline, and I'm usually much faster if I let off the throttle and/or hit the brake where applicable. And we usually race on pretty open tracks. It's not often that I use brakes on the larger layouts, but I've never raced a circuit where I didn't at least let off on a few corners each lap.

I run Associated DS1015 servo's, there bulletproof. If weight/space is a problem then Spektrum S6070

GTB 2 low profile + 25.5 Novak Boss with zero brake = a main win 1 weekend & TQ two weeks later for me.. now if only Mr.Tommy R would only show up n letting me see how the Champ does it I might learn something new.

How things have changed and also stayed the same. Just got my first set of HPI TRANS AM tires and WOW they are they different than what we used to get. These feel like they might have some traction right out of the bag. The old ones had a hard glaze on them that you had to "wear" off before you had any traction (probably the source of the no tire grinding rule - not that I ever did that ). But its still the same with all the mine's bigger/better than yours discussion. Only now it just ESCs we're debating.

Hey all! I just changed from a TC4 Club Racer to the Spec R S1.
I have searched for some VTA setups for the chassis, but keep getting 17.5 or mod results.
Does anyone have any links they could share?
So far, I really like the chassis and my lap times and consistency have improved.

If so, there is a USGT setup that I put on mine that I am really liking, I have an Xray T3 2012.

I have three Spec-Rs, I use an S1 and a R1 for VTA, and another S1 for USGT. I think they're great. I'm competitive with all the guys running the expensive chassis and one of the "good" guys ran my S1 and won the A-main.
So yeah, they're "like an X-ray" only a LOT cheaper...
