Default Painted Black wheels

Hi,

Had a quick question and that is what paint are you guys using to paint the center section of the wheels black? Also, what wheels are holding up the best without chipping?

From the USVTA website concerning rules on tires/wheels:

The only tires allowed are HPI tire part #4793 "front" and #4797 "rear", using stock tire inserts provided with tire and any HPI Vintage wheels designed to fit these tires. All other tires and/or part numbers are illegal. Wheels and tires designated as "front" must be used as front tires/wheels, "rear" wheels/tires must used as rears. Five or Eight spoke wheels available in various colors. 0mm offset front wheels and 6mm offset rear wheels are intended for 26mm width fronts and 31mm width rear tires. 8-spoke Vintage wheels from #3805 through #3814, 5-spoke Vintage wheels from #3815 through #3822 and Vintage stock car wheels from #3854 through #3860, Vintage Wheel CC Type #33472 and #33473, Vintage Wheel DTP Type #33474 and #33475 are all legal wheels.

Hey Darth,

I appreciate the info, but what I meant out of all of the USVTA approved wheel selections (chrome, mat finishes etc) which one works best for painting or using black nail polish without chipping.

Thanks

Ahhhhhh d0h!!

Chrome and black wheels get used the most from what I have seen. It really depends on the look you want.

Just use the flat chrome finish wheels and then use a black Sharpie/marker to color the center of the wheels. No need to mask or paint the wheels.

Hey can anyone running vta share a setup with me? I'm new to the Xray and would like a good starting point. I'm right at VTA weight (What a pita) but I'm not sure where to start. I've go the kit setup on it now but I'm wondering if there are any opinions on changes to make pre: practice. I'm coming from a TC5 that I had pretty dialed but after driving a friends T3 `12 I fell in love w/ the handling of this thing. Driving a Lamborshini vs. driving a cavalier on the autobahn.

Default 2013 USVTA Southern Nat

I just signed up on RC Sign Up for the Southern Nats and looking forward to coming down from Indy to race. Does anyone know if there is a "host" hotel yet ? I see that the SleepInn was the host last year.

Thanks..

Does anyone have a nice starting setup for an Xray T2 to run VTA on outdoor tracks?

I'm at the limits of my TC4 and I don't think I can squeak any more speed out of it. I'd like to setup my T2 and compare them but I don't know if the base Xray setup is where I should begin.

Thnaks

Here's a thought:
Post the name of the track and the names of people who you think are cheating and I'll bet that by the end of one week you have most of them waiting for you out side of the track so they can explain to you how they are "cheating". They may choose explain one at a time or all together. All together would be quicker.

After you get out of the hospital you might want to take up collecting Hello Kitty fan swag or something on that level.

Just a note:
If this track you go to is running USVTA rules, then the stators are color coded and the modded rotors have are marked to identify them as well (go to NOVAK's web site and see for yourself) because only NOVAK motors are legal.

Are you sure they are cheating and aren't just that much faster?
