U.S. Vintage Trans-Am Racing Part 2

Yes, that site has many manufactures not just RJ Speed.
I just heard from Rick, he and I had spoke about this and several other items at this year's 'Birds and I can now let folks know that he is re-releasing the full interior panel. He hopes to have the info to GP in the next week or 2.

Geno-Machino, thank you for that clarification. I followed the link to RCcarkings.net and found that they have a "Smoke'N Bandit" body which looks just like HPI's '78 Firebird. This one also has a replaceable nose piece. It too could just have a different nose put on so that it would resemble the 1971 Firebird.

Rick Jordan, owner of RJ Speed, told me that he is way overloaded with molding projects right now and there are no openings for a few months. He also said that they currently have lots of RJ Speed '68 Camaro bodies and '65 Mustang bodies on the shelf. It sounds like there has been very little demand for them.

Its a great looking Trans Am considering that it was probably sculpted by hand by a very talented individual who went through a lot of trouble to bring it into this world, but I wouldn't say that it looks just like the HPI. I am amazed at how many different shapes those boys can stretch to a TC dimensions and still somehow represent the car that it was intended to resemble. I am really excited to see what Dale is coming up with.

dialing in
Went to the local track today and got my Tc6 dialed in much better than it's been....well, untill I hit the pipe and broke my first "C" hub...parts ordered and on the way!
Finished out the day with my World GT and got that hooked up!
I think I'm addicted to this racing thing.

I got to run my first VTA car on Wednesday, I've been gathering parts to get it running for a few weeks now. I'm an offroad guy, been racing since '91. Its a big learning curve for me, but a local racer helped me get my droop and settings close. I was ok with the car. Chris, the guy who helped setting it up, ran some fast laps. Batman tried it and commented it wasn't an Associated; ever helpful lol.
My setup:
Xray T2R Pro, old Sky Rc 4k 40c lipo, ballistic, geared 94/41 for now. need to add a fan and gear up a few teeth.
I felt the car was pretty smooth, a little pushy going in to the corner and loose on exit. Slow on the straight. I was only able to get one run on borrowed tires and body, but it was decent. I'm going to go through the shocks tomorrow. I only had time to look at the rears this week.
I'm looking for some tungsten or brass weights, I had to add 6 3/4 oz and its just too many pieces to keep a clean chassis setup.
Overall I'm excited to try a new class out and hopefully I can keep improving with lots more practice.

My son and I was in the same boat as you, back in July. We came from offroad. I built an AE TC4 for VTA, brought it to Thunder for my 1st race. Everyone there was very helpful, donating traction additive, setup advice, Myron donated a body, etc. The Onroad Crew at Thunder are the coolest cats to race with. We both come up and run there very often every since
