Will running a Brushless Hobbies 80 Amp LT4 for my ESC give me a huge advantage?

Staying with the 5000 mAh batteries isn't too bad. The 6500s weigh so much that the cars running them are having to add more lead to balance them out and they are coming in pretty heavy. I'm running full-on USVTA rules and I've been hovering just over the 1550 mark with a perfectly balanced TC3. I had some trouble in qualifying but managed a fourth place finish in A1 trying my best to use the lighter weight to my advantage. If Myron's protege Eric is still running USVTA legal, then he's easily the best driver out here and may win it in 2 tomorrow. ROAR is also not restricting any timing, so a few guys "think" they can use that to their advantage but are coming off with motors at nearly 190 degrees and fading toward the end of the race. The way things were going, I could have caught third if I had just one or two more laps. I'll push a little harder tomorrow (but so will everyone else 
)

I'm sure it has something to do with he probably already has the ESC, or for cost savings (even though the Cirtix or Revelation cost about the same maybe a bit more). He already had an answer to whether it'll run the 25.5 or not answered.
It'll run the motor just fine, it's just like any other sensored motor. However, if you are not running "blinky" settings, it could give you quite an advantage. If you are not running one of the regular approved esc's it is likely to give an advantage and probably wont' be allowed (unless you club allows for a variance temporarily) with USVTA rules. The class is intended to be fair with electronics, so everything is about the same, hence the approved ESC's list.

The first of the triple mains were run Saturday night, this was the finishing order. Sunday morning a short practice session, then the rains came. After a 5 hour wait time to see if we could race, the rest of the mains were cancelled. Congrats to all the winners.

Depends on the driver and I didn't get into details of each. But mostly it was the battery and/or ROAR legal "blinky" speed controls that were not on the USVTA list. A couple that I noticed were also advancing their timing beyond the 45 degree mark. I'm pretty sure everyone ran a Novak motor though.

The deal is that the event is run under ROAR rules. They are not as stringent as USVTA on motor and battery as well as esc. You have to run to the rules you are under. Any battery was legal, any timing setting was legal, any blinky esc was legal. Some of the issues that have been brought up are why the USVTA rules are the way they are, but the rules for the event were the rules.

I think the biggest thing was probably getting the motor timing and gear right. I was going crazy because I didn't seem to have any speed. This was because I needed to reset my ESC (I am dum). I actually used another car with a different esc but the same motor and I had speed in Sunday practice. I set my motor like Howard Lo and I was right where I wanted to be, but we got rained out.
I had new 6500 65c packs in my car from my 17.5 car because I didn't know what my problem was speed wise, and I was trying to eliminate problems. I qualified 4th with a year old 5200 50c pack and probably 80% throttle....because I am a dummy who didn't set up his esc properly...
