So thanks to Evoracer for a new body I got from him with a VTA tire lot, I was able to retire the old Doug Carter body and paint a new J71 as a little tribute to his design.

The Original Doug Carter body

I am glad you retired the Carter shell while it still looked so nice. Doug may disagree on the relevance of that shell,(1) but VTA has a big impact on RC roadcourse racing and Doug Carter has had a HUGE impact on VTA. I think the shell will have a historical value.

1. For that matter Robk may disagree as well.

Thumbs up USVTA @ Kissimmee

Well guys we got rained out today soo the race was
Called and the finish went buy qualifying times
So I was the first loser lol but you know what
I would take second third or last just to have that
Much fun and race with my son right next to me
Laughing and racing together !!!

I think we are going to plan on coming up to the nationals race in sept
Was wondering if any of you know if they had RV/CAMPER parking

On Another note I think were going to see the USVTA class and rules
Being used in the Florida,State,Electric,Auto,Racers,Association
FSEARA has been running races for over 25 years and would like
To see some new racers in their series this year

I will try to keep you all informed on race dates

Wow, with a tape strip mask instead of liquid mask too! Nicely done, sir. I like it!

Separate topic.... If the front end of the car pulls left under acceleration, but tracks straight when I let off the throttle, do I loosen the front diff and tighter the rear? I just rebuilt my diffs and haven't changed the setup of the car at all. Problem started when I reassembled the car after the rebuild.

Is this on your Ta05? Belt drive chassis usually aren't prone to pulling so my guess is you've got something creating some friction. The diff shouldn't really be the issue. Tightening or loosening it won't help if there's something creating drag on the drivetrain. I suppose it could be a worn diff ring creating some drag on one side but also check the cv joint on that side. Also check wheel bearing or diff bearing. basically look for anything on that side not running as free as the other side. If you bench test the car, do the front wheels turn without any steering input when you press the trigger?

Appreciate the ideas! I'll have to tear her down again tonight and see if something is binding. Near as I could tell, it still runs clean and quiet. I'll hold it up in the air and see if the front wheels turn on their own tnite.

Someone else suggested in a PM to check the BEC voltage to make sure the servo is recentering. For VTA locally, we run 1s lipos on a 17.5 motor (apparently since both are cheaper and more plentiful to buy used), so it could indeed be a problem with not enough servo voltage to keep it tracking straight. When the power is off from the motor the steering servo gets the juice.

Thanks again though. Lots of things to try!

Sounds like a plan. Didn't know you're running 1S so yeah, that could be an issue. I was thinking it could be a basic servo or possibly receiver issue where the servo tweaks to one side when it gets juice. Good Luck !

Im glad im not the only on this thread that runs 17.5 VTA.
We run 2s Lipo at our track however, but it's just club racing.
We made it cheap in our area for a reason so the class sticks around.
The class almost died last year because people were running HPI firebolt motors with a Losi ESC.
Darn cheaters, im glad I wasnt in the class then...
I immediatly removed those from my car and installed a 17.5 motor with GTB esc. Now my car is legal for my area.
Now if I was racing in Nashville or some other area yeah I'd buy a 25.5 motor.
But are you guys running 2s with a 25.5?
