USTVA bodies
can anybody tell me if the new Protoform 1971 Camaro p/n 1552-40 is legal in USVTA rules or is going to be legal soon. USVTA bodies are so hard to find with HPI issues. trying to keep USVTA alive at our track.
Any info will be used.
thanks

McAllister 70 Camaro is a good alternative and it is approved.

It meets all of the VTA rules as stated for their other bodies so I would say yes, just started painting one up.
I'm really liking the fit on the 1970 McAllister Camaro. Sits low and looks good.

Hmmm.....news to me. Kinda weird...it's the most realistic 1970-73 Camaro T/A style body done by any company to date (impo) and conforms to all the rules.
The official VTA list has not been updated since 8/1/16.
I'm waiting for an answer back from "the man" at VTA as to the status.
It was used successfully by the 2nd place finisher at Cleveland's Indoor Champs back in November.

Bill;
I just got an answer to our question. From the "USVTA Man" himself. Here's a copy and paste:
"No, we dropped the ball at USVTA. It's legal as far as we are concerned, just need to update the list. Sorry about this, it will be corrected asap.
Happy new year"
Personally.....I'm glad to hear it!

Man, that seems awfully high (numerically low) for VTA unless you're running a "speed bowl" layout (sweeper sweeper sweeper sweeper sweeper swepper chicane sweeper straight). It may very well be that we haven't got our timing figured out but on moderately technical tracks we're usually in the 3.7-ish range...any lower (numerically) was creating heat but no improvement in lap times. The guess was we were losing time trying to accelerate off the slower turns and even on the straight it wasn't hitting the top speed until further along.
Of course YMMV, but best to try several gearing choices in the range against the clock. What we found was that where we had been gearing to motor temp didn't seem to serve us well with the 25.5 motor.
