Anybody talking about 'motor of the week' is thinking other spec classes and doesn't understand the ROAR 25.5 rules and how they differ from EVERY other spec motor....

well I hope its as good as Rob and others say...and maybe that's why the list is so short(2 motors)....but I know I tested one 25.5 that was for F1 and it was 4/10 faster with same car setup and battery...I was overwhelmed...and to be honest...if this motor gets on the list I will be 1st in line to get one.....well?....I feel like a sell-out....but its true

motor of the month?...maybe? maybe not? ....but it will make racers do one thing?... second guess everything that cause them not to get the "W".....

I hopo so. For one thing it is the only motor spec that specifies a minimum coil IR for the design of all 25.5 motors. One way people would cheat with brushed motors is to use armatures with fewer winds of wire (or find ways to use less wire in each wind); however, shorter length wires have less resistance when measured from end to end than longer wires (other things being equal). Thus you could catch a cheaters by measuing the resistance of the wire around each segment of the armature and compare to what the ROAR spec FOR THAT OEM motor says it should be. With brushless motors it is even easier, you just have to measure the resistance across the motor tabs and compare that to the standard for that OEMs motor. For 25.5 motors it is easier still, you just have to compare to one standard that is used for ALL 25.5 motors regardless of the OEM. It can be done with the motor installed in the car as long as you have access to the three tabs where the ESC wires are connected/soldered.

I have some really hot 25.5 motors I bought when our series ran any 25.5 motor. The best one has nowhere near the minimum 25.5 motor IR spec. A nice paper weight now!

I can assure you this is 100% not true.

It says based off of the ROAR VTA approved specs. I'm guessing it will be submitted for approval.

Ernest Provetti added 2 new photos.
8 hrs · Longwood, FL ·
In stock! REV1804 24K New VTA ROAR APPROVED NEW SPECIFICATIONS and the replacement rotor (TEP1117) ROAR APPROVED.

(the boldface and underline are mine, but this is straight off of Ernie Provetti's Facebook page)

I didn't know what to think, so I asked this:

Scott Franklin It's on the ROAR approved list?

Ernest Provetti It passed the technical specification and today we have given them the availability which is the final thing they need. I would say within a week or two at the most

And you'll probably buy one.

Our club uses USVTA rules for both VTA and USGT and we have even implemented the new weight/battery rules to get us closer to other tracks in the area.

Anyway I was just disagreeing with your statement that having a single source for motors completley eliminates the motor of the month club. I haven't purchased a Novak motor for several years so perhaps they have improved, but the BOSS motors I have (3) show significiannt differences on my FACT Mancine2, my motorlyzer, and my Facts MachineII dyno even when I set the timing of each to the same timing using the motorlyzer..
Wait, you have 3 machines to test motors with??? When I brought my motorlyzer last year it felt like I was cheating. I understand you probably run more than VTA, but I was hoping VTA would be a class where you didn't need that stuff.

I just thought a single source motor was the best answer to the motor question. Admittedly it's a bad idea but it's the best bad idea we have. Using the ROAR specs and asking motor companies to build to that spec invites those companies to push the limits of that spec. Not just Trinity but any motor company. That opens the door to a potentially huge disaster that USVTA was trying to avoid.

Lets hope it works out.

funny thing is Ive been running VTA from the jump and have only owned 3 motors in that span...a Novak 21.5 SS...then a Ballastic 21.5...then swap the stator to 25.5....and recently purchased my 1st Boss recently ....and Ive finished in the A-main in plenty events across the country...In fact my stator got laughed at (thanks Mike) at the Nationals early this year...but still pulled a nice 3rd place....
