I heard these Mustangs were pretty fast. We could maybe use these bodies?

Those were the P-40 Warhawks. We gotta find a classic car called a Warhawk.

I think "firebird" is actually a war bird in some context....

That's possible, but not likely. He is far more inclined to put his time into making something that is not already on the market yet or there isn't a good one of yet. If enough racers ask, you might be able to sway him. Also depends on how difficult it is to license, and how difficult it is to form the mold. There's no 69 stang and there are none with the Shelby Tail lights and trim. Speaking of which, I have seen several Shelby Mustangs on the roster, but in the historic trans am pictures the Shelby cars all have the standard tail lights and standard sail vents. Does anyone know if the Mustangs of Shelby trim actually raced, and if they would likely be legal if they were produced in the correct dimensions.

The other thing is pure curiosity. Has anyone ever tested an F103 GT Tamiya direct drive touring car against a field of VTA cars? If so did it handle as poorly as it would seem?

They would probably be fine on carpet since they race 2wd direct drive pan cars on carpet ovals. I'm sure asphalt / concrete would suck since you wouldn't be able to push hard coming out of the corners with the lower grip.

My vote is for a 67/68 Mustang notch back.

+1 on the Cougar! I've loved them since they were new. The '67 was my favorite as there wasn't much to improve on looks-wise in my opinion. They got ugly and bloated later on in the '70s... Not sure what years were represented but '67 - '70 should qualify.
