Anyone know the wheelbase of the HPI Boss 302 off the top of their heads? I just picked up a new chassis and might have to wait for the longer 68 Camaro to arrive or get the Protoform J71 to fit.

fit front first to the bumper. then trim the back to match the rear tire clearance. need to do this on my VBC and Xray's, on the camero's and just did the firebird.

I was guessing it was 10.2"/255 mm. The re-purposed chassis is an XRAY with wheel base of 257 mm to 260 mm. I've never liked the rear wheel well mod as it takes out part of the wheel flare and makes the body look a little odd, but that's me. I've been looking for an excuse to try one so I'll get a J71. I have the Boss waiting for now.

John, I'm running the HPI Boss 302 on an Xray T4 and the wheelbase is perfect. I don't recall the specific measurement offhand, though. And the front spoiler is flush to the foam bumper. It's a perfect fit.

Nice! Looks like I can get out my blue paint and do the Shelby #2.

I have the CSeils Shelby Boss 302 livery set. Looks just like that one with the white C-stripe. Very classic indeed.

That looks awesome....I picked up Protoform's 71 T/A body and will getting that ready soon. Couple q's for you tho, I thought HPI tires (and wheels) were mandatory for VTA racing? I like the white lettering on the tires, how do you guys manage to pull that off?

Thanks!! Those are the legal HPI wheels/tires. The Firestone stickers are from Carl, too.

Default motor "coging" problems in San Antonio

My friend Mr.Wallace has had nothing but problems with his BOSS 25.5 since day 1..he sent it to Novak n they said there was nothing wrong with it. Last time we raced it kept coging all day, he let me have it at the end of the day to put in my car to see if I would have the same issues. Bench tested motor n all was good but it heated up alot in just a few minutes. Please take time n compair his motor timing sticker to mine, with the timing screws inline his is off some 15 compaired to mine so when he's at 45 is it peaking at 60 vs my 45. He's a good man + racer n these motor problems need to get fixed.

Yea I found out after searching for a bit....emailed him and hopefully he will ship some out to Canada.

Just so ya know, I am not a big Ford fan but the color (I'm planning on the same color for my T/A) with the flat black, the matte chrome wheels and even the gold nuts all just go together so well. Again, awesome job.

I wish they would machine the timing marks in, or find a better solution than having a decal that is easy to misplace...

I ordered a vented endbell kit and the sticker wasnt on it from the factory. I had to put it on. How am I supposed to know where to put it. They really should do something more permanent and accurate.

Thanks again! I really appreciate it. I used to run a '69 Camaro (Penske Sunoco) and really liked it, but after a year it was time for a change. So far, I'm really liking the Boss 302 and, surprisingly, it seems to be very durable. I was concerned 'cause the front spoiler is so thin!

I agree. Novak is charging $96 for these motors and the finish quality is no where near the other $89 major brand motors such as reedy, orca, thunder power and so on.
