You can also check out the actual results from 1966-1972 on the Historic Trans Am website here - (http://www.historictransam.com/Results.html).
Please note that USVTA is based on cars with engine displacement over 2.0 liters. When looking at the results from 1966-1969, cars with a "O" after their result are the cars the USVTA is using. O stands for over 2.0 liters and U stands for under 2.0 liters.
If you browse through the results you will see that there are some cars that haven't been turned into 1/10 lexan bodies. Here is a quick list (may not be complete)
- AMC Javelin - 1968 -1970 model years - here is some additional info (http://www.amx-perience.com/Trans_Am_Javelin.php)
- Chevy II Nova (not sure which model year)
- Dodge Dart - here is some info on a '66 Dodge Dart that ran (http://ezinearticles.com/?Group-44-D...pic&id=3673215)
- Ford Falcon - here is some history on the '63 Falcon that ran (http://www.carcraft.com/featuredvehi...3_ford_falcon/)
- Mercury Cougar - 1967 & 1968
- Pontiac Firebird - 1968 & 1969 - here is an example of the Jerry Titus car (http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2...tiac-firebird/)
- Plymouth Barracuda - pre 1970 model years

You can find a lot of great SCCA Trans Am series or specific car info by searching on the internet. Make sure to be specific in your search if possible, since Trans Am will pull up a lot of Pontiac info

Thanks for pointing out that I left out the Cougar. Dan Gurney raced the Cougar in the 1967 season. I added it to my earlier post.

Warren Tope entered a Pantera in 1973. Why isn't that allowed?

Simplest answer: because that car you mention is not found on this roster -->http://www.historictransam.com/Roster.html

The USVTA as it currently exists only recognizes the cars with the larger displacement engines raced in the SCCA Trans Am Series from 1966 through 1972.
Many of the cars that raced during this era have been reproduced as R/C car bodies and are readily available. For the current list of bodies that are legal for USVTA racing, check out the rules on the USVTA website (http://www.usvintagetransam.com/rules/index.html)
The goal of the USVTA body rules is to replicate a specific type of real racing. If it wasn't raced "back in the day", then it isn't USVTA legal.
-----------
The question of "Why can't I run XXX body?" comes up regularly in this thread. The simple answer is that it isn't allow per the USVTA rules. However, no one on this thread is preventing an individual from buying or attempting to race that body at their local race facility.
Not all tracks follow strict USVTA rules. There are several tracks that run "Outlaw" VTA, which better suits their local track and/or racers. Some tracks allow any ROAR 25.5 motor, some tracks allow 21.5 motors, some tracks allow additional bodies, etc...
My advice is that it is best to follow USVTA rules when possible, since they have produced a very stable class. However it is also a good idea to check at your local track and with local racers before making any purchase to make sure you are buying something that can be used.

What the rules have is a body list that defines the era of cars we want to portray. Because I control the body list and I only approve bodies from that time line there is no need for that statement to be in the rules.
If your track allows you to run a Pantera, enjoy....

Help with Novak 25.5
Got my 25.5 motor returned back from Novak annotated no defect!!! BS I've put this NO DEFECT motor in two different chassis with two different ESCs (Tekin RS PRO in blinky and a new Hobby Wing Just Stock) and it does the same thing in each. It sounds great if I rev it up while the car is on a stand, but as soon as the car is on the ground and you hit the throttle it sounds like two gears stripping and grinding together until it starts moving (its not the pinon spur gear mesh). I have no other brushless motors that sound like that and no other motors that have been in the same two chassis and the same two ESCs that sound like that. I use the Spectrum Pro radio and use it to control 6 other cars, trucks, buggies and truggies and none of the motors in those sound like that either.
If there really is not defect with my motor, do all Novak BOSS 25.5 Ballistic motors sound like that? Hope not!

I know it sounds odd, sometimes the alignment on the sensor end gets goofy from adjusting the timing, and under a load sounds like a coffee grinder if it is out of whack.
