Yeah........it was more the hard bumper than the body.

I've got video of it too, but I was shooting from the opposite corner of the track. Not the greatest angle.

found this in the swap and sell - might be a good find for someone wanting to get into USVTA!

Any idea why the McAllister 1970 IROC Camaro is not an approved VTA body or the new Vaterra Mustang?.

The IROC Camaro is a later version of the F-Body and is likely too new for the era. Same reason the HPI "Bandit" T/A isn't legal. Not sure about the Vaterra Mustang, but I can see two potential reasons. The hood venturis aren't exactly "period correct", but I think a bigger issue is that it may be a 190mm body.

The SCCA changed the rules for the Trans-Am Series in about 73 - the McAllister IROC Body would be closer to a 75-76 style, probably actually closer to the 78/79 body w/o the big Aluminum front bumper.

IMHO they should be allowed to be used in the USVTA - but, if you went by body year that would then open up the Porche, Corvette and a few other bodies...

I do some detail decals for the McAllister body anyway, and they are legal in the West Coast's "OUTLAW Trans Am" and a few other clubs trans am racing around the country.

The body style is too new. Chances are you could use it at your local club races, but for the big VTA I would leave it at home. As for the Vaterra Mustang, I am wondering how I can stretch it to the VTA platform. Like I said, it will run USGT.

The one pictured would be a 78.

Yup. Way too new. I don't think I have seen anything newer than 72
legal for VTA.

Simplest answer: because the cars you mention are not found on this roster -->http://www.historictransam.com/Roster.html
