This news stinks. The 2014 ROAR Carpet Nats in Omaha just cancelled VTA and replaced it with 13.5 TC.

I guess they are suggesting 13.5 TC is easier than VTA?

I can't speak for others, but I can tell you my reasons for hoping the Tekin Spec passes all the tests and is approved. Reliability. I did a bunch of research before buying my first USVTA ESC and decided on the Hobbywing. I bought a second one for a different car.

In both instances I've had some odd reliability issues. Sometimes the speed of the car would fall off. With *no* load and WOT, the car would really slowly accelerate to top speed. Power it off/on and it would be back to normal. I've also had it lose power until being turned off/on again. With reverse enabled, I've had it engage a delay as I enter a corner. No biggie as I've since turned reverse off, but I've never had this problem with a "higher end" ESC. There's been other instances like this over the past year. Furthermore, I've been disappointed in the strength of the drag brake on the Justock.

These issues aren't the end of the world, but it shows an inconsistency in quality. I could try a Novak, but I've always had better performance with Tekin (which power most of my other cars). Not to mention most of the Novaks I've seen are large and real estate on my cars is at a premium.

So there you have it. My *personal* reasons for wanting a "high end" option available.

That being said, if the Tekin Spec is proven to have an advantage in overall performance compared to the others, I would NOT want it approved. I'm looking for better quality and maybe tuneability, not outright performance.

No VTA?!?!?!?!?! Thats just full of poop. I mean how many TC classes do you really need. (I realize VTA is a form of TC, I am talking about true Sedan TC). I like the idea of 17.5 blinky (stock) and mod. Thats all you need. Why all the inbetween?

IMO, to the situation with ROAR not including VTA is something that we can have some influence on. DON'T GO! Tell them WHY you're not going! Cash and public discussion (like this one) CAN wield a great deal of influence. It has been my experience that ROAR's front office types need hearing aids, but the manufacturers will listen when they see the response at this move.
I'm not saying to riot or go nuts or anything. Just let the folks who rely upon your $$$ know how you feel. If they don't get your $$$ (or don't think that they will), I expect that they will wield THEIR influence on your behalf.
Just my $0.02 worth.

Based on this statement - WHY would they "keep" the VTA class - if NOBODY signed up for it - it's expensive to hold a ROAR event - why buy awards for a No ENTRY CLASS.

You want to PROTEST - Sign Up - Pay Your Entry Fee - Support ROAR and their NATIONALS - and MAKE the VTA Class Happen! (No OTHER protest makes sense)

Look at snowbirds.... almost double the amount of 13.5 touring cars early entered vs USVTA (the class that is supposed to be even better than ROAR VTA).

5 day races have never attracted a lot of VTA drivers. This just seems to be the way it is. When it's a 3 day race or 2 day race, you might see 50 cars or more.

Just the way it seems to be...

I find it interesting how much emotion is displayed over the possibility of the Tekin RS-Spec making the list. There seems to be a lot of anti and pro Tekin sentiment. For me it's a matter of patience and trust. I trust Robk because he has been diligent at the helm and has made careful moves to bring the class to what I think is the best it has ever been. So I trust him to pass the Tekin RS-Spec if it is worthy, and deny it if it's not. I also trust Tekin. Even after that Vegas blinky fiasco. I guess it's because Jim has been in here himself and knows why the RS and Pro were not put on the list. I trust that he was more careful in the creation of the RS-Spec and that there is no Jeanie in the bottle.

I can afford to trust Tekin. Robk can not. So we wait, even if we are antsy for an answer.

be real, for the 20 guys that might of gone to run VTA they'll get 30 guys that are now going because they can run 13.5 and 17.5 TC. vta guys don't mind spending 30 40 for a couple day race but ON AVERGAE vta drivers want to have fun and don't need the justification of roar to prove it nor do will they spend $85 to run a class that is a fun class. and again if you wanted roar approval to run vta you all should of signed up for the roar nats to prove it, it's too late to cry over lack of enthusiasm at racing vta at the roar nats. get over it and support the races that support vta and run USVTA rules.

this is old news...show me a ROAR VTA race that even looked like any of the USVTA Nationals (Scale, Southern, or Indoor)... ROAR VTA is a headache for most racers that like the idea of VTA, it loses its appeal due to the facts of not knowing....

ROAR events are fine, but they will never have the following that the USVTA has...nor the even playing field...every ROAR National event that has had VTA, hasn't even developed a "C" main....

This isn't a bad thing that they don't have VTA...we have our Nationals, and all 3 will showcase USVTA as the MAIN EVENT, and not a whatever class.....

If you love USVTA, don't waste your time or money wanting something that isn't there, come support the events that will show respect and cater to your favorite class...

ps...also I personally worked my butt off to get USVTA back at Snowbirds, and I happy to know that at least in 2012, it was one of the best races of the week...It will never have the following as reg TC, but it not supposed to. It does what it does and the Snowbirds is happy to have the class...

but don't think this little promoter cant draw some more USVTA to Florida...I got money, Ill buy a racer or two...lol

What is wrong with me that I think this is backwards from how it should be? I think VTA should be the big class and TC should be the side dish.
