I run the Hitec 2x400w/20a. Its a dc only charger, but will do 20a out of both sides at the same time with a decent power supply. It will only discharge at 5a tho. I got it when it 1st came out, I think its like $180 or so.

I've had the Hitec X2 Ultima for over a year and still really like it.

This thread has lots of good suggestions on high amp chargers.

Who charging 20+ amps or more now??

I agree Cain, the new VTA tires do seem better out of the box than the old stuff. On second thought let me restate that: they are a HELL OF A LOT BETTER!!! Much easier to break in.

Tire & Wheel Specifications:
The only tires allowed are HPI tire part #4793 "front" and #4797 "rear", using stock tire inserts provided with tire and any HPI Vintage wheels designed to fit these tires. All other tires and/or part numbers are illegal. Wheels and tires designated as "front" must be used as front tires/wheels, "rear" wheels/tires must used as rears. Five or Eight spoke wheels available in various colors. 0mm offset front wheels and 6mm offset rear wheels are intended for 26mm width fronts and 31mm width rear tires. 8-spoke Vintage wheels from #3805 through #3814, 5-spoke Vintage wheels from #3815 through #3822 and Vintage stock car wheels from #3854 through #3860, Vintage Wheel CC Type #33472 and #33473, Vintage Wheel DTP Type #33474 and #33475 are all legal wheels.

Grinding of tire tread is NOT permitted. Sanding of mold seam to remove seam is allowed. HPI Vintage Slicks and HPI Vintage Performance Tires are not allowed. Tire traction compounds are at the discretion of the track. No other altering, changing or softening of the tire is allowed. Tires may not be belted or changed to prevent "ballooning". All decisions of the race promoter or track owner are final. No "double stuffing" of foam inserts allowed—only single stock vintage tire inserts are allowed.

Absolutely NOTHING in the rules prohibiting it...[using tires with no tread].
Note the bolded part of the tire rules. If the intent of the VTA rules were to allow the use of VTA tires with no tread, why would they have banned slicks?

To keep people from grinding all the tread off, and coming up with "magic" one run tires.

The slicks are horrible (and the other tread pattern is worse) on asphalt, BTW. Even if they were legal, you wouldn't want to run them because slow.

+1 on all of these opinions. Having a tread pattern rule prevents people from ruining brand new sets of tires (which, IMO, work best when treaded), and the other two vintage tire varieties are absolutely terrible.

On carpet when the tread goes away so does the traction.

Frankly, I'm tired of trying to determine the intent of every rule. The "intent" of the tire rule. The "intent" of the driver figure rule. It is either a rule or it isn't.

Some of the main VTA dudes here say they run them until they pop. The "intent" is not that clear is it?

On YOUR carpet maybe...

On our carpet, which is low low traction, they seem to work great right up until about the mains at which time you have to decide "do I swap them out now or risk traction rolling?"

In Nashville, my car was great on "sticker" tires.

That's what I do - and oddly enough, there's usually tread left when the inner sidewall splits from the tread area. I've only run bald VTA tires once, and killing those front tires required several hundred laps on very rough asphalt...
