Yeah, I would just improvise. Putting the driver out of "line of sight" or excessively small is really out of the spirit of the rules, IMO. *You* may not be doing it to skirt the rules, but others may not know that.

If you look in the VTA Pics Only thread, I asked a similar question and several of us posted examples of drivers and how we mounted them in the car. Good luck!

A lego guy is just 2 small... I would think a power ranger, G.I. Joe or He-man figure seems about the right size and I don't see people having a problem with you using that. Or at least I wouldn't...

Right, the 1/10 part of the driver figure rule basically rules out anything that obviously wouldn't fit.

All cars must include a driver figure consisting of at least a head and shoulders.

Driver Figure part numbers (ANY suitable 1/10 driver figure is legal-these are readily available examples)

It says ANY suitable 1/10 driver figure is legal. Doesn't say they are the only ones that are legal.

A strict interpretation of the rules would mean that if you meet the bolded part above, you are good to go.

My son's Happy Meal Minion guy got dremeled in half and affixed to the roof. He still screams "Banana!" if you listen carefully.

I still like the idea of having my driver figure mounted to the chassis with a separate pair of body posts.
Pull the body off and the driver is still mounted to the chassis.
One driver works with all my different bodies.
Favorite of course, a plum crazy 'cuda.

Not mounted on the car right now but here's what I use.
I like the HPI body post set with the post tops that are adjustable and the mounts are offset to mount with screws from topside.
Can easily find a couple upper deck screws to use or something on the chassis.
You get the idea

I used a figure from a tamiya grasshopper painted it and installed in my tc3. I used a body post and screwed it to the battery strap and used a stud in the top of the post then screwed the figurine from the bottom, works perfect and light weight.

I use the HPI trophy truck insert. I just don't cut it. I use it complete with both drivers. I also use the white modeling tubes and a heat gun to make a roll cage. I just need to find a miniature fire extinguisher. Or find a good way to make one.

Just bought a Tamiya full tray. Can't wait to get started on it. I have high hopes for it.
