I also run a mostly box stock VTA setup on my TC6.1. I have a few RSD upgrades like 1x1x1.5 pistons and soft bladders. I just changed it from a TC6 to 6.1 by adding the arms, hubs, knuckles, turnbuckles, sway bars, etc.

I do like it but would love to see what you have changed so I emailed you.

I usually recycle a rear spoiler from a beat-up HPI Camaro body to use on the HPI Mustang bodies.

Just make sure the "chord" length doesn't exceed 20mm!

Curious.....has anyone tried going to rear wheel drive, with all the other rules the same? Most cars could just remove the front belt... and the real cars were RWD. I think it would be an interesting thing to try!

Brakes would really suffer, and pull coming out of corners IMO.

A 4WD car converted to a RWD will always push like a dump truck in every turn. Guaranteed the RWD car will loose a race against a 4WD car.

Yes, it's quite fun! You will need to remove the front belt and drive shafts (since you don't want the diff coupling the front tires together).

Remove all trail braking (drag brake) from the ESC or radio. The car will have much better turn-in, especially if you usually run a very tight or viscous front diff. Conversely, you may pick up some understeer on the corner exit, since the diff won't be pulling the front end around.

You can either set the brakes so the rear doesn't lock up, which also doesn't give much braking, or tap the brakes near the entrance of a corner to get the car sideways to scrub off speed. That takes good reflexes!

Removing the drag from the belt and bearings will gain you a little horsepower and help top speed.

On most tracks, including any with tight, low-speed corners, you'll turn slower times with RWD than with 4WD. But there are a few rare occasions when running RWD will be faster. Running RWD on a big, flowing track with no slow corners (like a 1/8 nitro track, or a big oval) can be an advantage, both from the horsepower gain and because eliminating the front tires scrubbing against each other (from diff drag) will give higher lateral acceleration.

Quick VTA question..... I burnt my esc up (rookie mistake, lol) and was looking to get a new esc. I was going to get another Novak, but I see the HW Juststock was much cheaper.

Any opinions on if there is much difference between the two?

Thanks
Chris

I use the Speed Passion and love it. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. I stay away from Novak speedos. Nothing wrong with them. I just prefer others. I've heard good things about the Hobbywing too.

I recently picked up a Justock to replace my Havok Pro and I like it better so far. I feel it is a little bit faster for me, and you have the ability to program it via PC or LCD card.
