Default 25.5

Just want to throw this out there, I'm looking to buy a Ballistic 25.5. If anybody has one they want to sell, give me a holler.

How much do the rear spoilers help with performance on the Camaro's such as on the HPI body? I am trying to decide whether to add it or leave it off.

We really have not noticed much of a difference to be honest as it is so small to begin with. Unlike the large USGT touring car style spoilers that do make a difference at our track.

If your race an a small low speed track I don't think you will miss the Camaro spoiler, on a larger low grip track you might see some advantage.

As far as aerodynamics go, the tiny little spoiler on the HPI Camaro makes next to nothing for rear downforce. I still put the spoiler on all of my VTA bodies because I need the extra weight on the back of the car. I also fill the inside of the spoiler with Shoe Goo for a bit more weight.

If your car already has a bit of over-steer, if you lose your rear spoiler during a race it may make the car very loose in the corner. The vta spoilers do give a bit of aid (aero/weight/both), but aren't necessary to be competitive.

No spoiler on my 68 camaro body. I can't feel a difference between a body with or without spoiler.

I think the spoiler thing as well as differences in the body all depend on where you race. You probably won't feel any difference on high grip carpet track under 100 feet. But when you get on a long asphalt track with less traction there are notable differences. Last summer I experimented with bodies on a large outdoor asphalt track. I could definitely tell the difference between the bodies I was running and the size of the spoiler especially going into the sweeper at the end of the straight.

In your opinion which body works best on asphalt? I temp. have a javelin right now, but don't like it. Have a challenger , but saving it for the Texas EOS races.

The three that I experimented with the most were the J71, 68 Camaro and the McAllister 69 Mustang. On the big track, I didn't like the Camaro at all. Not sure but I think it is the angle and placement of the windshield that makes it a little unstable. The J71 was pretty stable and added some steering in the sweeper. Overall I do like it. The Mustang is what I'm mainly using now and has been my favorite body since I first ran it. It was very neutral on the long high speed track. Other bodies I've run include the HPI Shelby Mustang, the Parma 70 Mustang, and the HPI Cuda. It's been a while since I've raced with those and nothing I remember about them really stands out other than the Parma is really durable.

The HPI Boss 302 Mustang (HPI #17546) with its scale wing works amazingly well on asphalt tracks.
