I'm going to order that set for my VTA cars. Do you remember the part number off the top of your head? I'll look it up otherwise.

They are from HPI, #104815 for the DT-1 truck body.

http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/104815/

There are technically two driver figures included so you can share. One doesn't have a steering wheel but a computer instead. You could have a computer driven car! A KITT car!

I like the look of the figure too and mounting it in this manor lets you adjust his profile and position in the car with greater flexibility. Additionally, you are free to change bodies with minimal effort.

Default USVTA

Another good night of racing at Michiana rc raceway (MRCR). we had 10 USVTA cars, enough for 2 heats and 5 outlaw vta cars tonight.

currently have 3 USGT cars, with talk of that growing very soon.

Ditto for us! Great night of VTA racing here in South Dakota. We fielded 21 VTA cars. Local racers really are responding to the door to door action that our speed limit has created. We had a young racer get into some trouble in the qualifiers and qualified deep in the D main. He battled his way up, stayed smooth, and finished 4th in the A!

Hey fellas,

I know asking about electronics preferences is second only to discussions on religion or politics, but I'm venturing into uncharted waters (for me) and I'd like to ask for your suggestions. I'm coming from a background of rock crawlers and onroad racing. In both of which, ESCs are pretty much wide open. I'm very unfamiliar with most of the brands that are allowed in USVTA.

Of the available selections, do any of them offer easy drag brake changes w/o additional software? In other words, I want to be able to make drag brake changes w/o needing to bring my laptop to the track. What about the need to purchase different software or datalinks of some form? That would be helpful info. as I budget for this purchase. I'm also looking for something with a small footprint as space is fairly tight on my car. Of course, if any are known for particularly good or bad reliability, please share your experiences there, too!

Given my list of criteria, does that rule out any of the available ESCs? Do any of them stand out as a good option compared to the others? I've been researching, but talk about a time consuming process!

Thanks in advance!
Tommy

The Novak ESCs offer drag brake settings and are programmed using the one touch setup button and LEDs on the ESC. No external programming. I'm unfamiliar with the other brands.

I started with a novak, then went to SpeedPassion now using a Justock.
Some of the Novaks can be programed with the button, for the SpeedPassion you will need the optional program card ($10).

I like the Justock the most, it offers more adjustments then you will need, is small and the power cap is tiny compared to novak and speedpassion, you can program it with the button or the optional program card which makes it very easy and allows you to update the software ... you cant do that with the others

Thanks, y'all. That's the kind of feedback I was hoping for. I'm unfamilar with the Hobbywing stuff, but it sounds like the Justock may fit the bill. Is this the program card you're referring to?

Yes, the one you show is the "LED Program Card (V2.0) For Car" and it is one of the 2 programmers that works with a Justock ESC.
You can also use the "LCD Professional Program Box" which has nicer menu system and USB connection capability.

That one will work, even my speedpassion DT2 program card works with it lol

But I use this one : http://www.falconsekido.com/products/lcd-program you can program and update most HW esc's with it and some from SpeedPassion.

I am new to VTA and haven't had much run time. Do the ESC's get warm enough to warrant a fan on the ESC with VTA? I saw many ESC's do not include a fan but has an option. Any thoughts or opinions?
