Gens Ace Battery or something similar would be cheap as well, and they work well.
I already own the brushless hobbies one. Im saving up the change now to get a new esc. Would like a GTB 2.

Robk was looking for answers to his issue...and he thought it may be his battery, so the only other battery he had was the 6500 65c...to test his other issues...it wasnt his battery ,it was his esc not set correctly

BUT IT'S 5000 and legal
it is legal...but I promise you that 90C isnt being used at all, by that 25.5 motor...but its a good pack and alot of ppl like them...and EG runs them, and its the same for him too, and Ive told him as well...Im not knocking any other brand...but I know what works for me...

IMO...also 90C...to me seems more of advertising than true numbers...the only way that can be pulled is in mod..and Im talking low mod(4.5 low)

bottom line guys, the 6000+ lipos didnt win the Nats...thats the main thing, nor did a ROAR blinky esc, nor another 25.5...

so we all agree the U.S. VTA rules...RULES!!!!!...amen..and goodnight

To look at this from a slightly different angle...

It's also clear that running traditional "ROAR Legal" batteries and blinky ESCs don't have a the perceived advantage in this class. As such implementing similar rules in the USVTA Class reduces the barrier to entry to someone on the outside looking in who wants to use gear they already have that they might use in other classes. I, for example, used the same ESC and batteries I normally use for short course. If I would have had to buy specific batteries for this class I would not have run.

One of the original premises behind VTA when it started was to help guys use older gear they already had in an effort to reduce costs. 2 6-cell packs could be busted down to 3 4-cell packs for example. I like the 25.5T motor and have no issue with a spec there but with the implementation of blinky by so many manufacturers it really is a level playing field. I know there's paranoia that "I heard at one track this one guy had this really prototype software he ran once and was a second a lap faster than the field even though his ESC blinked"... I didn't get beat because of my equipment this weekend. I got beat because the guys in front of me were better than I was, made fewer mistakes and properly prepared for a race such as this. Just my personal opinion here. I had a great time this weekend, had a blast and am looking even more forward to our new carpet track opening next month.

And Rob..I'm sorry I gave ya the bump and run but you handled it in good spirits.

I also need you to PM me your address. When I was passing Kankakee I realized I still have your hubs.

Thanks Myron, I was just wondering. I for one am staying with gens ace batteries. They pack a good punch for little $$

I use the 90c packs, because this is what I run in my 17.5 TC. I have like 4 packs and refuse to try or buy anything else until these fall off. I have never tried any other batteries to compare, but would like to try others.

I will definitely be testing EA batts when the come out.

I hope they are here within the next 2 weeks. They sent the packs off to ROAR today for approval.

With all this ESC setup talk I have a question about it: If your radio allows the throttle epa to go up to 140%, which of the ways below do you setup your ESC. Because I am having speed problems as well.

1.) Set throttle epa to 100% then do ESC normal setup. After setup complete, crank throttle epa up to 140%.

2.) Set throttle epa to 140% then do ESC normal setup. Leave throttle epa at 140%.

3.) Set throttle epa to 100% then do ESC normal setup. Leave throttle epa at 100%.

4.) None of the above. If this option please explain.

Also, anyone that uses the GTB2 esc....what settings do you change from the spec settings.
