Buying RC equipment from UK/Britain, Fees into the U.S.??
Hey Guys, Wondering if any of you have had experience buying anything from the UK or Britain? I'm looking to buy an RC car from a private seller in Britain but am not able to find a definitive answer on whether or not there are any extra fees when it's delivered. I've seen everything from no fees to up to 20% of the value. Wanting to buy a $750 car but am not sure of any extra fees. If it's 20% I might as well buy new. Thanks in advance

Just play dumb.
You could claim they are personal effects of low to negligible resale value. The letter of the law is that personal items over 300 bucks of value can be passed without an import duty, but technically can't be sold for three years without paying the duty. Don't worry about it and be helpful if you get searched or questioned at the airport. They care a lot more about antiques, art, booze, things like that get import duties, not toy cars. |
Idk if this helps, but I recently purchased a pair of soccer cleats from the UK. I thought I was gonna have to pay import taxes, but nothing of the sort ever happened. It just shipped straight to me.
The shoes were a little over $100 US after shipping. |
What the heck ya buyin? Doesn't sound like on road
