Hi-Speed Radios - any advantage???

What do high speed radios have to offer over the regular speed radios? Do they offer more protection against glitches?

Anybody tried the regular KR297FZ actually work with the Hi-speed variant ON THE TRACK?

I have the Super High-Rate version of the KO Mars R radio and also the regular KO Mars. For reasons of economics, one of them have to go. I have three receivers for the regular Mars and only the included hi-speed RX for the Mars-R.I tried using the KR-297FZ receiver with the R radio in my room and it seems to work eventhought KO's site says it wouldn't work .However, I don't know whether I will have problems at the tracks. http://www.kopropo.com/faq.htm.

with my helios, i have it on Super HRS mode, and my car just feels more connected/ more responsive. I let someone else try it and their opinion was that the car took to adjustments a little better (he was also using an M8)

THe KR297FZ was not supposed to work with the KO Mars.
But since you've tested and tried it, I guess it's ok. But there is no guarantee of it continuing to work or anything.

I used regular FM and 3PK-HRS ... there is really a difference.

NinjaCool; I'm not deeply into these KO transmitters, but I'm quite sure that the Helios is backward compatible, since you have the option of "Mode settings", where you can choose Advanced, Super HSR, Normal. Look here: http://www.kopropo.com/EX-10_helios.htm scroll down a little, look under "Others".

If I'm right, you might be able to sell both of your Mars, and this way getting money for the Helios. Personally, I find the Mars looks way better than the Helios, but there's more into it than just looks :-)

Dont just take my word for it, try asking in the Helios thread.

Lee82gx and onebeatuptc3: I also hear persons, who say there's aint any speed difference.

I know, that my current Presto have a frame rate, which is twice the Helios, thus my Presto should be much slower. But I would like to relate the improvement to something I know, like servo speed.

Can you guys enligthing me in a way I can relate to. This "it's better" is a quite wide definition :D Thanks.

For Helio, you just need to take out the module and switch to different mode....

I used M8 champion edition (red letter) which is high response version of M8. But I don't see Airtronics talk about it....

Which leads me to the thought that it dont mean much. It could just be marketing blah blah blah from KO and Fut...

Yes, you are right. I still prefer Sanwa and Futaba system.

I like the features, the look and the overall quality of the 3PK. But it fails in the grip test with my hands :(

I'm happy with my Presto. However the Fut 3PDF suits my hands better, but at the time I bought it, Futaba was way overpriced around here, +40% compared to the Presto. It doesnt make sense to exchange my Presto with a 3PDF - they are very even, and I would mis the 4th channel.

If I should upgrade, it should be a huge improvement. High speed might be an issue making it worth upgrading. But it seems to me that some people "feel" a great improvement, while others says: No difference.

So the M8 might be worth trying out. Much better display than the Helios, and with the Spektrum, they are equally fast. The feature list is quite even. But the M8 looks better :D and it's cheaper than the Helios. To me, the Helios looks ugly and cheap.

The grip test will judge !

Cole,
If you drive at high speeds AND digital servo, you will notice the difference in response speed between using HRS and non-HRS.
It's like as if there is instantaneous response.

This is a bit of an old topic but i thought it was the most relative to what i want to ask. I have the KO Espirit 2, not the type R so it isnt the high response. Now will i be able to use the 302F reciever which is slightly smaller (and HRS) than the 301F which im using now? I dont really see why not, i imagine that HRS just wont work but everything will be fine. Anyone?
