The X2 (dual charger wit built in PSU) does NOT have race charge mode. On the single charge unit with built in PSU (Elan R ACDC) has it.

There is no plan for Elan to update the X2 from what I have been told.

The race charge mode is proprietary software designed to enhance performace of lipos in stock or zero boost classes. Alex Hagberg and Andreas Myberg and Py Tang used it at TITC and reported on Elan FB page earlier this year.

Hope that helps.

ANyone know how the plastic backing for the balance circuit board is attached?

The connector that connects the cable to the charger has come loose so I need to resolder it.

I've got an Elan R ACDC here, and I have a few questions that the manual doesn't seem to answer...

During charging, what are the first and second numbers at the bottom?

The first on the left, I think it might amps, but it often says 4.0 when I've selected 1 amp charging, say? Or maybe this is an effect of the SMT mode? I seem to remember having tried it in the basic mode (which should be continuous), and the number not being the amps that I selected, but I might be wrong...

The one in the middle appears to be a counter, and at first it looks like it's updating every second, but it was *just* a bit bigger than the elapsed timer reading on the right (when converting the minutes to seconds)? And it seems kind of weird having two elapsed timers next to each others, counting the same thing in different units, no?

My last question is whether it's possible to change the volume or mute it? I haven't opened it yet, but I'm starting to be willing to do so.

Thanks in advance!

From left to right...

Amps - MAH going into back - elapsed time

For the amps, what are you charging at 1amp? You should be charging 1000 times less than the capacity of the pack. Ex, 7000mah pack = 7 amps, 2500 mah pack = 2.5 amps

As far as the sound, no, you cannot change it.

Ah, thanks, that makes sense, the number was indeed close to my battery's rating when charging it after a discharge cycle.

I wasn't in a hurry, charging the battery while putting my new car together, so I figured I'd slow charge, to avoid straining the battery when I didn't need it.

Another question for you... I went through the settings, and all of them but one are explained in the manual: "power mode", with on/off? What does that do?

Default Manual for Mini AC/DC

Where can a digital copy of the manual for the mini be found? I did not see it on the website.

I also want to know what the "power mode" does, as it's not in the manual. Also would be nice for a digital copy of the manual too

So it's the total being drawn that actually matters?

I was worried about going over 10A on the extra outputs (can't remember where I got 10A from) so I haven't pushed it.
This means I can use my tyre sander as well as charging.
Glad to read this post before I commit to purchasing as my previous charger (Graupner Polaron Sports) crapped out when I tried to use my MM Tyre sander.

Thanks for sharing your insights. Will buy this little beast.

Too bad it doesn't read IR,
