Is carbide ball same as tungsten carbide?
Is it a hard coating or the whole ball?

Actually, my question leads to : does carbide ball diff wears out eventually and need replacement or do they last "forever"?

I cannot answer your first question.
But yes Carbide Balls will wear out. They will take longer to wear out however than normal balls. But keep in mind that while the Carbide balls will last longer, since they are harder than normal balls, you will need to replace the diff rings more often. Carbide ball are harder on diff rings!!

i found carbide to not last as long as steel...but they are smoother..

its the ceramic ones that last for ages between ball changes but ceramic ones are expensive...although they do seem pretty rough.

if your prepared to replace the balls more often then id get carbide..if not then just stick with steel, there isn't that much of a difference.

Yes.

I'm using tungsten carbide, and as far as I can see, they last longer than steel ones. I also find the diffs are smoother with tungsten balls, so I highly doubt I'll go back to steel balls.

Ceramic is by far the best, been using them in my 12th for a long time, they are great.

Does the MIP kit come with Carbide balls AND rings?....or just carbide balls and steel rings?

Yeah, i would use the ceramics. I run them in all my cars. They may be more expensive, but you will never have to replace them. I had the same ceramic diff balls in my TC3 for 2 race seasons. They never wore out. They are $12.00 a set on the Acer bearing website.
