Hey guys,

Looks like I'll be getting my Wildfire tomorrow.

Just a quick question, since I'm fairly new to this on-road thing.

I will be running 17.5 Blinky at our local indoor carpet track. The track is pretty small (75 by 35 ish) and need a good starting point for gearing. Looks like the stock spur is 116t. Where should I start with a pinion?

Thanks!
Seth

Each motor is different, but I started around 44/94 and went up from there. Maybe start at 40/94 or similar and see what your temps look like.

What brand spur gears will fit on this car. PRS and CRC don't fit.

The car uses Xray type spur gears. I know if you leave the plastic spacer thing off you can get a modified kimbrough on it.

RW's do fit, they must be the xray offset style to work though. Unless you get rid of the spacer, but its there for a reason

The Xray offsets work, but then the gear is offset in the top deck a bit. I found that I could also use the RW Xray T2'007/008 spurs, before the offset.

I just ordered a RW spur gear. I'll see how well it works.

Anyone have any input into the best way to install and remove the spring clip around the axles used to retain the pins? I just got a set of swing axles and could not get the spring clips on at all, ended up just using head shrink and crossing my fingers...

I used a Kimbrough although I had to sand down the spacer a tad. But once you do that you can fit any of them.

Hi Kuruption,

Are you talking about the new double joins uni? If yes I do found those spring clips too tight. What I did was enlarge those clips a little bit and it will be much easier to install.

Nexus Racing... search for 'RW' and the spurs will come up.

But I recommend trying your LHS first.
