What about the care and feeding of these new cells. Charging, discharging, traying and dead shorting for instance or is it to early to know ?

I was going in to buy a pack if they had any good numbers in....

6 SMC 3000s with 1.14 voltage numbers for $87.99

The only affordable packs they carry at all are B&T packs that are matched at 20A and they still run in the $70s for 1.16s.

superior hobbies orlando florida or big dog r/c in jacksonville both have great packs.

Danny's charging and care for the IB cell will be posted both here and on the new site.

It is different then what we suggest for GP cells, so stay tuned.

We have been low key for the last bit in preperation for the new cell. Our team drivers have had time on the new cells.

Yeah, Clegg, I'm with you on the "cheaper" thing. $20/cell? When I only take out 2000 mAh out during a race (and finish high, or win) and I can buy packs at $5/cell how is that cheaper (for the club racer)?

Unless we start making races longer how is this a benefit?

Didn't read the whole thread...Guilty

P.S. If any of our Dist from around the world see this, please email me with any major race results from your area for our new page.
Korgae, here's a cool result for you from Lethbridge. (You shoulda been there, nice race, nice folks, as always)

Round 3 of the Western Canada Indoor series.

Bob Stormer: TQ, 1st touring mod.
Randon Stormer: 1st touring stock, TQ, 1st 1/10 pan open

I was really proud of Randon, we've been close, but never both won at the same event. He delivered this weekend.

Danny, I'll email you sometime this week. Gotta get caught up.

Not to take anything away from Danny. He as many others has some good products. But when we can buy unmathced cells at 4.50 per unit. So that is about 30 bucks. How can 70 to 80 at the local hobbyshop be a benefit for our hobby?

You can buy unmatched raw GP's pretty cheap too.....

The equipment used in the matching process costs money, the time spent costs money, the logistics behind getting batches of cells and finding the GOOD cells...costs money...

possibly they'll be willing to post the percentage of cellst hat they find are fit for our RC consumption so peple can calculate on average how many cells they'll have to go through to get 6 good ones for a pack

You are correct. But have you ever tried a unmatched GP pack? I have not so I am interested in how they perform. Most of us are not top contenders. As men we always think that something we have or can get will make us better, instead relying on what we have as our ability.

I have!

I have ordered 18 cells from a matcher 1 year ago. Then using my charger (Schulze Electronics) I charge each cell (4 at a time). Gather their numbers and then match them first on secs and then on voltage
I would say they fall in the range of 1.15 at the time.

The packs run without any problem until now (of course their performance isn't the same now) and for $30 I consider them to be one of my best buys!

To avoid the hassle of the process I now buy the stage 1 (doesn't matter the matcher, more or less it's the same) 3 packs every 2-3 months! In total it's much cheaper (per season) with the advantage that every 2-3 months you have NEW batteries.
For me this is the most important factor since even if you buy the best battery after some runs it will perform like the cheap one!

Well that is encouraging. I just bought a pack for less than 35 with shipping. They are the newer 2005 cell with the higher capacity and voltage. I have read a lot about the newer GP cell. So I will see how they do. If it works out. Then I will start buying bulk and match them on my turbo thirty myself. These are only toy cars. We spend more money on them to have fun. Most of us do not make money on them.

Bob: Congratulations on your wins. I will try and call you in the afternoon.

The cells were getting from IB are the latest generation cells that have improved performance. IB is very comitted to supply the RC racer with the best possible cell.

When you buy matched packs they are zappped, cycled and matched up with the same numbers all of that process costs money and requires equipment and employees. Then we have to seperate the cells in groups. The majority of the racers want to buy the best numbers and don't care about the price so we have no choice to offer these packs at a higher price.

Danny you do have good products. I have the pack that won the 2003 Winter Midwest stock truck class by Greg Nicklaus. He needed a pack to borow so I had a SMC ready to go. He used it and won the race. Him and Alan Horn had a great race that year.
