well on my dyno i get a 32,000+ rpm on a properly rebuilt motor.
our LHS got new brushes and i decided to try em out. got a reading of 37,000+ rpm. still didnt get the time to try it out. will keep you posted when i do. |
hmmm the team orion element motor that i run was tested at 25,000 rpm at rc action that sucks you guys are getting over 30,000!
which motor has more top end out of the reedy spec and the chameleon 2? |
RPM by itself doesnt mean anything. You need both RPM and Torque to make power. A low RPM motor with lots of torque just needs a higher gear than a high RPM motor with no torque.
|
This is a very high torque motor. It does not spin as fast as a C2 but geared right it is faster than a C2 on the track. The 19T class in the Florida State series is huge. The Reedy Quad 19 is the motor most racers choose. In sedan on most tracks in FL we run a 5.62 to 6.00 final drive depending on how big the track is. I run a 5.72:1 at my local track. The ratio sounds crazy but it works. Paul Wynn won the 19T Nats in Portland with a Reedy Quad 19 geared 5.62:1.

What sized back straight at your home track?

Crazy gearing and not to stiff of springs are key for the Reedy Quad.....like Adrian said, they used crazy gearing at nats and the cars were very fast...people who geared it like a C2 were super slow......

Eddie or Adrian- I was at the Nats and ran about 5.80...had to find a BIG pinion...lol
Going to be running the motor on carpet....any rollout thoughts about the Reedy? Jeff |

Well, compared to a C2 a 5.5 to a 6.1 is crazy....
For springs, usually 7.0 FS on the positive and a 6.5 FS on the negative....though, on some tracks a 6.5/6.0 combo works better....namely smaller tracks. I am not very good with rollout in general.... Later EddieO |
i use a 24/72 gear combo with 2.5''tires so im averaging about 28mhp but im looking for more speed cause a race on a very long track that has very few turns and the turns that it does have are not very tight
|
24 / 72?
How soon is your motor topping out down the longest straight? I found for my quad mag a good starting point was 28 or 29 tooth to start with. When we were messing around at the old LHS doing touring oval had to go up to a 48 / 72 setup. Pinion looked like a spur gear! |
i would say my motor hits max speed at like 40-50 feet, pretty quick
