Default What body is this?

Any clue what body this is? From the Associated RC10R5 Factory Team pages of their website, and I guess was on the box?

Looks very nice but have never seen one other than there.

Thanks,

-Rich

It's the old Protoform Corvette. It's been discontinued for a few years now.

Looks like the Protoform Corvette WGT body that's been discontinued. (was never sure why it was discontinued - never saw ANY of them anywhere) , maybe simply timing...and lackluster market when they were released.

Default hmmm...

Yeah, I found this:
http://racepf.com/legacy-items/chevy-corvette-c6-r/

Maybe a licensing thing with Chevrolet?

Isn't there a Protoform guy on the forums, maybe he could shed some light on that, looks like a great body, wish they would bring it back!

Thanks,

-Rich

It was a good body. I still have mine when I ran WGT. I had to eventually trim off the bottom frontend to for more rake for downforce to compete against the Sophia bodies.

The HPI one, a 2005 Corvette, looks good too. We run our own little Corvette Challenge Series with the following rules.
1/10th scale pan car
HPI #17503 Corvette body
84 spur , pinions from 35-40
17.5 blinky
BSR Purple stripe tire
Car number in order of class sing up
Any solid color not already taken
6-8 weeks on each body, currently Corvette, next up is Viper , followed by Camaro,Mustang etc.
6 minute qualifiers ,8 minute mains, with a pace car.

It makes for good , evenly matched racing. Chassis setup and driving are key, not balls to the wall power.

I think it's more like a sensible business decision.

The Corvette was the first WGT body from Protoform, made quite quickly, and was followed up some time later by the Sophia which is much more developed and performance oriented, it handles so much better than the Corvette that everyone switched to the Sophia. Now if all your customers are buying one of the two bodies you make, it doesn't make good business sense to use your machine time to make a body with very few sales when you could keep on making the big seller instead.

I like the requirement of changing bodies regularly. It seems more interesting than just using the same style over and over, and gives the opportunity for a little more realism.

That's one tiny track you have there! The 17.5 motors look very well suited to it.

You know whats funny,a 12 year old [my son AJ ],won the last 2 weeks in a row.
Most of the cars are so evenly matched ,I tried 4 different motor brands and they all turned the same lap times.Only slight variations in acceleration/top end.

Its all driving in this class.

Hey people,

WGT is starting to take off at our track now...finally! Right now my BMI Copperhead 10 is doing well...won the first race But I'm having an issue where the front wheels kind of stutter or shudder when going through the corners. It seems to hold its line fine and feels like it has good enough grip so I'm not sure what would cause this to happen. At first I thought I might need to put more angle on the caster blocks but the TOP Rebel that runs there too is also running 0* caster blocks and not having this issue. Any ideas what could be causing it?
