Now, I'm very poor so LRP and Tekin are out. I see that Novak has the Edge 1s and Kinetic 1s which seem decent but also a little up there.. (yes, $230 is up there for me! Lol) But now I see that Novak has a 1s Club spec 13.5T kit out for $130 and it seems very compact and strictly "blinky" (a term I am slowly figuring out). Any thoughts on this one?
I've had good results with all my Novak equipment. I haven't tried the Club Spec set yet (it's 17.5 not 13.5) but I would expect it to perform well for non-ramping classes (blinky). The Edge esc is a good choice also and is very small so it fits well on a 1/12th car (the Club Spec is about the same size). With the Edge you have full adjustability which you don't on the club spec, and it's a bargain at $95.00-$99.00. To run either esc (as with many others) you will need to use a receiver pack or booster with 1s

Got the car today and put a Futaba S9650 in there for the steering servo. I just purchased some new parts because not 100% of everything was there but no worries. When you guys buy new tires do you true them down and if so, what arbor do you prefer, the Hudy or the OFNA? Still have a dilemma between the LRP or the HW1s. I guess i will have to decide here shortly before next thursday

Yes, you need to true the tires down for racing.

As far as the arbor, neither. Get the CRC arbor that fits everything. Works great, inexpensive, and made in the US.

I'm also just beginning to look at esc's.... In fact I'm very new to this BL/lipo thing. Took a 10yr hiatus and BL was new-ish but very expensive and nimh were the cells to get.

That HW1s combo (13.5t) is a fantastic price! $130, esc, programmer, motor, etc... Wow!!
I just want to make sure that everything I get is small and light.

Can you send me a link to this combo? I could only find the ESC for about $100

Sorry, it's $200 for the 120A combo. $130 for the 45A combo. Still, $200 is really good for what you get.

That one doesn't support 1s batteries in the description. This was the slight confusion i had and maybe someone else could chime in. There is a 120a and a 120a 1s support if i am not mistaken.
