I have run all Spektrum stuff for over 3 years now and have never had the issue you are talking about.

Plus dont think that Radio post or Futaba are going to solve all your problems. They both have their own issues.

What was the difference in gearing or ESC setup you used between the Reedy Sonic's and the Thunder Power?

I understand what you are saying but we both had similar issues using the identical stuff radio-wise. We are no knocking the Spektrum product, just stating that we had issues at a race and how we are going about tackling our issues.

I will say that I have had less hit issues with my FAAST than my Spektrum when I have run it at my carpet track. I just chose to run FAAST with my nitro vehicles and save the Spektrum for my electric vehicles.

Mr. Fairtrace, I'm not knocking the spektrum 2.4 electronics but I am running a Z-1 transmitter with a Spektrum module. I think its just time for a new radio. also while we were racing on carpet they were holding a off-road club race not to mention the people running on the outside dirt track and the people flying helicopters inside in the heli-pad area.

Enough with the radio issues, lets talk best motor blinky 17.5 racing. I've heard from some 1/12 scale guys now lets here from some sedan guys.

Mr. Fairtrace your thoughts.

The Revtech is a safe bet for 12th or sedan... you will probably want a higher torque rotor for sedan, though.

+1 - the Revtech is a good motor for blinky sedan. I'd also the recommend the Thunder Power motor if you prefer a motor that's a little smoother on the bottom end. I have yet to try a Reedy Sonic, but plan on giving one a try soon.

I don't have a ton of motor experience but I run a reedy sonic 21.5 in a f1 and it is very smooth. Good top end too. Shaved 0.3 off of my best lap compared to a Novak. Novak seemed to run a little cooler though. Same esc same gear.

Lucked up this past weekend and was able to get my hands on a Duo 2 17.5BL motor while passing through Jackson, MS. It is already slotted for 12th scale use only. I will roll the RevTech for the next couple of club races and save the Duo 2 for big races. The RevTech and Duo 3 will become backups at big races.

Ive ran both the Duo 2 and the Revtech in 17.5 non-timing 12th and the Revtech has always been quicker...

I've only run the TP in blinky so far. Gearing has been very similar for the two. I ran 3.7 with the Reedy and 3.8 with the TP. Both are very smooth and provide lots of power. Looking forward to some 17.5 boosted and mod when we head back outside.

Now, if you want to talk boosted 17.5 12th scale, I have had my best luck with the Tekin ESC (non pro) and the Novak Ballistic 17.5. The Novak ran the coolest of all the ones I have tried (and I have a bunch of 17.5 BL motors). Silky can tell you that my boosted 17.5 wasn't that much slower than 13.5 the last time he saw me run my car.
