New Xray Prototype

Check out rczone

From RCzone

"During the last few days reports of a new Xray prototype touring car have been coming in from different parts of the world. The reports have come mostly from America, a bit strange with Xray being a European company. Seems they have done a good job of keeping it a secret! It is understood that there are 1 or 2 cars in USA and a few more in Europe, currently being tested by the Xray team drivers. The new prototypes will more than likely be run by the Xray team at the DHI Cup, this coming weekend in Denmark.

The T1 has been a very successful car for Xray and the latest version, the T1FK, has won Xray a lot of titles. Recently, the Factory Kit was also awarded "Best Electric TC" by Xtreme RC Cars Magazine. Xray has never been a company to stand still though, always testing new ideas. It has to be said that Xray tests a lot of prototype parts and not all of them makes it into production. However, according to those who have seen the prototype that's currently being tested, it has such significant changes that it must be considered likely that these are prototypes for a new kit.

Quite a few prototype parts was run at the World Championship in Florida but it would seem these were only intermediate parts. At the Worlds and at races after that, Xray team drivers have used new bulkheads and chassis'. These parts lowered the layshaft and moved the motor forward, further lowering the CG and centralizing the weight. The latest prototype has taken this even further by incorporating a totally new chassis layout. We understand that no one has actually been allowed to look at the cars but those that have seen a glimpse of it indicate that the battery is now located on the right side of the chassis and the motor on the left side, much like the Worlds winning TRF415 chassis. It is believed that the current prototypes use the same suspension as the FK. Whether a new suspension will be developed for the car when/if it is released is not yet known.

No detailed pictures of the prototype are available yet, and it remains to be seen if Xray will allow pictures to be taken at the DHI Cup. "

From what was going arround at the Novak Race is that it will not be a production car, just conversion parts... we shall see....

any chance someone has a pic?

PaintingRoly 01-13-2005 05:15 PM

They had it at the Worlds and many more than just 1 or 2 in the U.S. sorry Tom this is not new information that you found but rather old by R/C standards. From what I know the main differance will be the bulkheads once again thet move the drive train 7mm foward and you can raise and lower the diffs:tire: :tire: hope this helps

I strongly suggest, everyone, to read the article before reply.

I just wonder where they have seen this rumor, I had no glance of it on this board before, and that's where you'd expect to see it.

Being at the Worlds and sitting in the pit area with the Xray team I did not see any prototype cars, only some new parts like the bulkheads.

I think that rczone is a credible source so I suspect that they are talking about a new car that we havenīt seen anywhere yet.

I heard that the new xray prototype has the same layout as 415/rdx but that the motor is not as far on the outside as the tamiya. I also heard that they have smalle problems with te spurgears because the layshaft is only supported on one side. They will be driving the car at the DHI cup

Here's a picture of Martin Hudy's car from a race in Austria last weekend. It's the car next to Marc's Tamiya.

If you look closely you will see that the layout (battery and motor pstition etc.) of his Xray is pretty close to that of the TRF415 standing next to it. :sneaky:

Not enough resolution on that pic to clearly see anything...

do you have the direct link to the original pic?

When blown up large enough to see any detail it was grainy enough that I thought I saw Elvis and Bigfoot having a party in there:weird:
