Default Help Identifying Vintage On-Road Car?

Hey Guys.

Normally I'm over in the Off-Road section, but I just recently came into a weird, old On-Road car that's a good bit older then I am!

I got this thing from my Dad, and he said he purchased it in the 70's. Apparently it was a Porsche, or something thereabouts, but he can't remember the color of the body. He did mention that the body was cheap, and made of styrene rather then lexan.

Anybody have any ideas as to what this is? Or what it's worth?

Wow man that's.......Nuts!! Looks like it ran on dry-cells. Has some seriously adjustable wheel-base too. The wheels on it are probably where some money is.

Looks like Tamiya's first ever rc car. Should be worth something.

First glance just knew it had to be tamiya.

Looks sick. it's definitely a keeper and eye turner in my books

There's one MIB on eBay right now. As of this post it had 36 bids and is up to $2300.00 with one day and twenty hours remaining. If that is what I think it is, you have an example of Tamiya's very first RC Car.

From what I understand, this body set will closely reproduce the original's scale and appearance. It's a neat find...

Holy crap. Tamiya #1?!

Thanks for the help, fellas. Now I just have to figure out what I'm going to do with it.

Looks like an old school gaming table you had it sitting on when you took the pictures. Which table is that anyway?

Actually, that's the PC-Based Arcade Machine I built in the summer of '11. I've got it's build detailed over at http://wdarcade.wordpress.com .

Nice arcade build but didn't see it finished in your blog. Or did I miss something?

I'd clean it up and keep the Tamiya and try to get the Porsche body for.
