Default Widening wheel base

Hi all, I have an old Tamiya TL-01 that I'm putting back together. My partners going to learn how to drive and I'm using this to teach her, if she likes it I'll get her something decent.
I bought some Xceed foams for it as the old wheels were stuffed. I got the 26mm for the front and the 30mm for the rear. Fronts fit fine but sit in further then the old Tamiya ones, the rear ones sit in further as well and foul on the lower arms.
The wheel nuts screw in quite a bit as well leaving 1-2mm thread sticking out the end.
I tried putting 2 washers between the wheel and the hex adapter (max I dared to) which was fine for the front but the rear wheels still just and I mean just fouled on the lower arm still.
The problem would be easily fixed if I could find some wider hex adapters, or some way to widen the ones that are on it?
Anyone help?

Just to be pedantic it's widening the track.

The wheelbase is the length.

The TL-01 is a very narrow car, Tamiya actually make axles to widen it. Axles part number 50808 have longer screw threads, designed to be used with the 12mm long hexes which are spare parts included with the TL01 toe in rear upright, part number 53345. These will move the wheels out 6mm on each side, but if it's too wide you can cut down those longer hexes or swap them for something narrower.
