Does anyone have tech info about the belt and the teeth shape and so on. Trying to make my own stuff.

Thanks for the link but i does not contain dimentions and such on the pulley teeth.

Spot on. The pulleys where below that one. Just a bit hard to see the dimentions.
Thank you.

Would this work? I know it is for spur gears but I imagine the formula remains the same for a belt. http://www.cage-gear.com/spur_gear_calculations.htm

A few of those perhaps. It says above its for a spesific type of gears.

Hi, looking for a 3mm pitch 80t (240mm) 3mm wide belt.
I've looked at the links and lists and looked through some stock lists and have found a contender (Cat SX3 has 82t and is 4mm wide) but nothing bang on yet - seems to be an odd size from what i've looked at so far.
Obvioulsy the other option is to get one direct, but finding a 3mm wide one (or someone willing to cut one down) is hard.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

Try these guys:
http://www.beltingonline.com/3mm-htd-timing-belts-4573
They will cut to width, and are mega cheap. Only slight issue is that they're HTD profile and most TC pulleys are STS, but the pitch is right so I doubt you'll notice much difference.

Hi Dale, thanks for that site - in all the searches i've done that has never come up!
Just order 5 belts for my project, with P&P they come in at £7.25 - thats unbelievable!
Dale, are the HTD belts as felxible as what we get with the kits? Is it purely a slight profile issue?
Thanks again
Chris

The specs say they are about 0.4mm thicker than the Bando belts that come in most kits, so they won't be quite as flexible. I'm not sure if it matters too much for boosted Lipo racing since so much power and battery capacity is available.
If they are too stiff (i.e. if my data logger shows a loss of speed or an increase in current) I plan to sand them down; just hold some 60wt sandpaper against the backing of the belt while its running at lowish speed, and it should thin down nicely. This was a trick people used to do back in the days of NiCd cells and dumping.
I figure at the price they come in at I can afford to experiment and trash a few in the process!

I've been followinjg your project Dale, looks good. I have some parts in with Fibre Lyte at the moment, hoping to get the chassis sent off over the weekend, I might post pics of it up on here at some point...depends on how well it goes though
Your right about the power these days, Schumacher are even producing stronger belts for their TC's at the moment to deal with it so that 0.4mm might be exactly what we need!
The belts should be here by Tuesday, i'll let you know how they hook up and feel.
Cheers
