Whats an average lathe rpm???

i know theres all kinds of variations in opinions but just want to get a ballpark for what range rpm wise d/c motor ill be getting to run my lathe on a power source, or what rpm does a stock motor run on 4 cells? thanks in advance!

I own a cobra lathe and have tried several different motors and power supplies. I always felt the slower the lathe turned the better cut I get. I have been using an old associated stock motor from 1986 and a 2 cell pack to run my lathe.

I use a stock motor myself and some 2400mah cells with a carbon bit, Cobra lathe, RED

would a 540 motor on 3 on 4 cells work ok?

I use a Xipp lathe with a 540 motor on 5 volts...

i appreciate the responses but im looking for THE RPM of the actual motor that spins my lathe, im using a mvp w/ a 4 cell pack, but am gonna convert to 12 v, and would like to know a general RPM of a stock motor on four cells. i wanna hook into my power supply

Here check this out 12 volt motor lathe It doesn't state the rpm but it's a direct replacement for 12 volt operation
