I was looking at Gens Ace lipos, but I noticed something odd. The battery wire isn't the same as my hpi one. The one on the gens ace is red with 2 circles. The connector on my car is a clear square. Do I need an adapter? If so, where can I get one?

Get some Deans plugs, and solder up as shown in the instructions. Cheapo connectors suck and those of us that race try to avoid connectors altogether, but if you want something easy to use, get some Deans. You would be surprised just how much of a deifference a quality connector vs. a cheapo connector makes.. performance, run time, ect. Go get a pack of Deans. If you are still lost I'm sure we can help out. And a basic solder iron can be found at Harbor Freight, for cheap...

wow I never new i had to discahrge the nhim at all are you supposed to drain them dead like leave the battery on all night or what. I have a nhim for my rx and i only charge it and trickle it every now and then for like two years so do that mean my battery gonna be junk soon.

No....one way or another you will have to solder something sooneer or later.

When you do.....do not let the wires touch. It will ruin the lipo. I do one lead at a time and heat shrink before I do the other.

It is almost imposible to be in this hobby and not solder. its not hard, just takes practice. can get a cheap 40w iron and solder for around $10 at harbor frieght.

For kids and backyard toys, the Energ4600 packs are the best Nimh out there ! If you are racing, then Lipo is the only way...

Can I buy another esc with a different connector type?

Most esc's come without plugs and you put on your choice. Most guys run deans or traxxas plugs. Most of the batteries from china have the bullet plugs or the yellow x60 (or something like that).

If you go to your local hobby shop they should be able to solder them for you.
