Blinky Mode Help
 

Just started racing 17.5 blinky mode and was wondering what can be done to make the motor faster. Im using venom 5000 40c pack, a lrp vector x12 and I have the gear ratio set so the motor temp reaches between 150 and 160. Im still under powered. Would ceramic bearings or a different rotor make a difference.

change up your timing some on the motor but be careful on temps! what are you running and what surface? do you need more speed out of the corners or is it straightaway that you feel is slow?

Gear for performance, not temperature (but take temps to protect the motor from damage).

LRP X12s can deal with a bit more heat than most other motors - 160 is safe, but you could go a little warmer. Adjust the gearing to suit the track, a tooth or two at a time, bigger pinion for longer straights, smaller pinion for more rip out of the corners. Brushless motors in general have heaps and torques and will pull a much bigger pinion that you would expect.

Running on carpet, Ive got the motor timing at 10 degrees. The track is about a 11 second lap, one long strait. Really just needs more punch. so whats a good gear ratio.

Also, my battery is about 8 months old, probly 50 cycles on it, could it be too tired.

Get any Novak with XDrive( Havoc pro sc)! Then play with the motor advance on the motor.

whats the benefit of xdrive.

XDrive is smoother and faster response. There is an old saying Do you want to Lead or Follow.I've been using the XDrive for several months I know what it's done for me.I run a 13.5 in WGT with a D3 and was as fast or 1 to 2 feet faster coming out of the corners than the same car with a revtech 13.5 and Tekin.And I've never been that fast before against the same driver I've race against before.Also his reflexes are faster than mine by 20 years !
