run time VS tweak time

what is your ratio of playing time and fixing time?
mine is about 1:5 respectively.
find that i dun run my car much.
most of the time fixing and stuff like that

I blame the batteries.

5--8 minutes of run time per pack, and if you're rich, you'll have 5 packs which you spent around $400 on.

Now suppose you want to recharge them Nimh's, well, that would be 2 hours of cool-down time plus 45 minutes of actual charge time, and then another 5 minutes of cool off time.

So yah, there's always something to tweak, fix, clean, repair, but I bet you'd run more often if you could.;)

For me, it's about 1.5 runs per hour. I give the car a full rub-down wipe-up to fill the time. :p

That's an interesting question BBS...

I race every weekend, at the track I'll run a practice pack or two, then 3 qualifiers and a main. That's maybe six five minute runs for thirty minutes of track time. I spend anywhere from 6 to 12 hours working on the car during the week, cleaning, maintaining bearings, checking for wear, making sure the car is race-ready for the next race day. I guess my run to tweak ratio is between 1:12 and 1:24

Yep definetly more tweek time for me to prolly around 1:12, but I personally think that is the "whole package" portion of the fun of this hobby.

Agreed, I'm not in any way trying to complain about the amount of time I spend keeping my cars race-ready. In fact, if I didn't keep so busy wrenching between race days I'd probably get bored and look for another hobby...

After every race day I completely tear down my car and wash each part individualy. I replace brushes, fix broken parts, etc inbetween qualifiers and mains so I'd say my ratio is probably 1 hour driving time per 60 hours.

Speedo 06-16-2002 09:43 AM

For off-road, for me, probably about 1 to 25...TC's maybe 1 to 10.

seaball 06-16-2002 03:40 PM

i'm about 1:1 for every 10 or so runs i spend an hour or so washing it under the spicket. i don't really take it apart at all. there's all kinds of slop and drag, maybe if i use a pressure washer instead. also i go through alot of esc's. humm, weird.
