Chassis Flex
I was measuring the difference between the chassis flex on my aluminum chassis and carbon chassis and thought this picture might be helpful to visualize chassis flex or for those who want a method to measure flex. You can compare left to right front to rear or from one chassis to another.
i have locked the suspension arms. You can replace conventional shocks with turnbuckles if you are trying to figure out how to lock your but equal length is imperative. My a800x has up stop screws so in my case I run the up stop screws in far enough to lock the suspension arms. Make sure your ride height is correct once you lock the suspension arms in place.
once the suspension is locked i set the chassis on the tweak station. Then I use ride height gauges to make the measurements. The RR has the ride height gauge under it and the measurement is complete when the LR tire loses traction. So in the case of the aluminum chassis I see about 4.8 on one side and 5.0 on the other side. This is close enough to control the balance from left to right cornering and it wont shoot left or right when accelerating hard in a straight line.
The Carbon chassis flexes about 6mm. Aluminum about 5.
you can add or remove screws in the chassis to create more or less flex and then make the measurements to repeat.
I drew a circle around the up stop/down stop screw that locks my suspension arms.
