I want a velineon moter and esc but do I have to have a lipo battrey will my nimh battrey work thanks

I think theres traxxas kits that come with the velinieon brushless system and only provide nimh batteries in the kit so it must be ok

Yes. You'll need to make sure the lipo cutoff is disabled, otherwise it will false trigger and completely cut power quite often when you give it full throttle. If I remember correctly, you simply hold down the power button once the esc is powered up. The LED should be green (I think, check the manual to be sure though).
