So I'm new to the EX crowd. Just sent payment for one I found here.
I was looking at the option parts for these cars. .. What are the "wings" for?

Thanks. I look forward to talking to all of you.

I wouldn't worry about that. You wont need them. Havent even seen them before to be honest. I would stick with the basics. The new Steering knuckles, The DJS', the new c-hubs, and the new rear hubs.

Those parts are for the Photon, not the EX.(they are chassis stiffeners for use with foam tires.) They will not work with the EX. Did you find a EX, or did you get a Photon? If its not an EX, there is a different thread for the Photon.

Those wings are for the original Photon.

Looking for set-up advice for hi-traction carpet.

I have my car set up well for low to mid traction that we have at the club races, but even then, by the mains, the car is starting to traction roll at corner entry.( on hard 180deg corner, with fast entry speed, off throttle) I can control it if I drive into the corner very smoothly, but this is killing corner speed.

This week end, I'm going to a big trophy race, it will be very hi traction, so will need to do something about it.

Can someone please share there set-up, or better, what steps to take to adjust the car to stop the traction roll, but not to change the balance of the car.

Hey Slow In. Sorry to leave you hanging there. I was really pining for an EX and found one a couple days after talking to you.
For Sale: TOP PHOTON EX
Then it was a matter of schmoozing the wife. My nitro 8IGHTs were supposed to be IT. No more. LOL We all know how THAT goes!!!
I got him to include some wheels. Only down side I see is needing the sway bars.
The other down side is that this is forcing me into the lipo world. I have none.

Okay. New question. This guy did not include the sway bars.
Will this Photon kit work?

If I were to buy all the components that make up the EX bars, its gonna cost me a fortune.

Ill see if I can post some new images, but the kit is very nice build and quality. Some good upgrades to design like the motor mount and split blocks. Ive been running Sabre style split blocks on my EX for a while now and LOVE it.

Also most parts will carry over from the EX, like arms hubs, diff and so forth. Some parts that wont will be belts decks, bulkheads and so on.

@ luda. If you are using the aluminum servo hanger. tape or glue the servo to it. I couldn't tell a difference but I guess a few people had problems with them.
I dont think you would have a problem with the Red Alloy servo hanger (3 hole). The older design was the carbon one (2 hole) which yes did move the servo.

Some seem to be leak free while others not. You can always use the BD7 or BD5 diff (Same). These work very very well. Also if you need to replace the outdrives in the Yokomo. Also Spec R make a Yok diff for half the price.

TOP rep says no. I'm still trying to see if the holes to mount through the shock towers are the same from Photon to EX. That's the only part that worries me. After that I'll use 3x8mm flat bolts to mount it all.

I like the bling of the aluminum over the black plastic. I've emailed TOP USA for help. I'll wait and see what they say.

Sorry to re-repost the picture but be sure to pre-thread the ball cups fully with a sturdy steel M3 screw before screwing in the little red thingies. They are fragile and will break if you try to thread them in the plastic right out of the bag. I would even add some soap or grease to make screwing easier.

( "that's what she said" :-)
