The way you guys run your cooling fans seems surprisingly effective (I double sided tapped a Yeah Racing blowing back onto the motor), I don't usually bother on my 10.5 racing at night here, but I set up a fan on the chassis powered off the battery cause I'll be running 17.5 during the day soon.

Testing it on Friday night, I was very impressed by just how cool the motor stayed, I set some good lap times with the 10.5 running under 50C or so, timing up around 35 on the Thunder Power, so I figured I'd go up a tooth.

But on the track layout we were running, I went slower, even when I upped the timing to 40 I did not match my lap time with a tooth smaller.
It's possible (I'm guessing a little here, still not that experienced with electric) I may have geared past what my Turnigy Nano Tech 5600 was able to keep up with punch wise, cause I felt like I lost a bit of punch.

Hi,
I don't have the car yet (should arrive this week) and i have some questions for you..

Can you tell me what is the Internal Gear Ratio ?
I will run 17.5 blinky, ballistic motor (house rule) and have to target 4.15 to 4.20 fdr.
I am already equipped in 64pitch and have to find a spur to acheive the fdr...

I already have a complete Hpi spring set, does these spring fit on the Photon shock?

Can you tell me if a double joint cvd exist for this car?

Hi
Spec-R Yokomo Shafts works great on the EX. But you must use the Yokomo wheel hub. And cut a little bit from the C-hub (inner diameter)

Can anyone please let me know if I may or may not need anything bigger than a 38T pinion (48p) for 17.5 blinky class?, I have like 15-38 tooth range in my kit, and I put a 66T spur on today, but I'm in the middle of a last min order with around a week till my event, with zero experience in 17.5, and no idea how low I may need to gear?

Depending on how crazy you get your FDR can get to the low to mid 3's.

the 38T will put you at a 3.4 FDR so you should be fine. Depending on motor and track I would start around 3.8 FDR (66/35). If your running a revtech put it at a 4.0(66/33)

If you see the factory smoke, I take no responsibility

I probably should have mentioned it's a Thunder Power 17.5, I have like the 10.5 TP and like it (for many reasons), so figured I'd get their 17.5T.

When I was swapping in the the 17.5 today I threw in a 66/33, and realized I was missing my 36T, so figured I'll order a replacment, with the question mark being should I also grab a 39 and 40T.

I dont think you will need that big a pinion with a thunder power. I believe my buddy was right at at 3.8 with his. He tried to go a little more and the factory smoke came out to play.

Just start conservative and temp it as you go. I personally dont think you will need a 39 or 40 though.

Hi all, I just purchased a brand new photon ex from www.rcring.eu and am really excited with the car!!!

I will start building the kit on Monday, so until then, is there anything I should know, any building tips?

Can I fit a 116/64p spur gear?

I will post photos and review when I am done, stay tuned!

Welcome aboard, you won't be disappointed...

Best place for tips is http://racerlog.com/wiki/T.O.P._Photon_EX and I have just done a review and a few blog entries on my site at http://www.rcracingni.co.uk
