Looking forward to it, thanks.

@Hanulec

Which setup are u refering to?

1. April 2012 EJ NorCal Modified Asphalt Setup
2. May 27 2012 Hanulec NorCal Reedy Race 17.5 and 13.5 Asphalt Setup

For the steering rack wiggle i believe is caused by the bearing hole being a few microns bigger than the bearing is self, thus theres play in them.

Either or should work - but I was really talking about #2. That setup was derived from the 13.5 tq and overall winner. Larry tweaked it a bit and Larry, Kyle and myself ran that or something very close to it in non-modified classes.

Tires are always important... so what are you running?

Some folks started to investigate flanged bearings. I wanted to worry about it at the Reedy Race but it was by far the least important issue I had going on with learning a new track, finding a car and motor setup, etc

Okay, noted on the set up. Will try it next coming tuesday.

Had my 2nd run tonight at my local track. Car was behaving much better, diff was change of shock oil and gear diff from 2k to 3k.

Im using RIDE 32, thats the tires i could get from the local hobby shop besides Sorex, Solaris.

Flanged bearings, hmmmm, pretty interesting. Might try it too, since i have time, lol.

Got to run my EX for the second time thanks to a break in the weather...

Car 'is' very nice to drive, all the slops in shimmed out of mine now, which feels good, my diff is leaking less with the extra shims and Mugen o-rings, but it is still leaking just a little bit.

EX seems to turn in better with a spool than I could ever get from the original Photon, still keen to try a diff up front though, right now I'm cutting better laps than I was with the old car, knowing my motor has faded a but recently, so it seems a fair bit quicker for me.

Steering rack not so great, any which way I tried to shim it, still got lots of slop, bearings seem really sloppy or something, so maybe better bearings would help?.

has anyone tried inserting the bearing through a thin plastic bag for the rack? I do this on ball cups and trim the excess, at least its removable.

I used a bit of 609 bearing retaining locktight plus a few shims and it's a bit better....

Yeah loctite is designed to be used as a seating agent as well, so that is likely worth a try, though I'm still going to see if some different bearings help.

If we told you, then it wouldn't be super secret any more

OK, just kidding, the only number is 650-583-8898. Please leave a message if you get the machine.

I've been out of the office quite a bit lately due to an injury sustained in the line of duty at the Reedy. No, not eye strain from staring at Hanulec's shoes

There are so many ways to interpret this.

Let's just leave at, your potential risk of repetitive injury was reduced once Hanulec got his car into the A! You get the Top Gun helmet and a Top medal for your excellent support!
